Pictures cant really show color or gloss, etc. for anythng other than what was clicked at the time, then reproduced through the various mediums we view.
If it does turn out to be more 'glossy' than you like then rub it down with rottenstone, or such, to a more satin finish.
That trap stock seems to have more 'flare' stylisticaly, and if I had one I would have tried it on a rifle. The architecture of a trap gun, to get on target, may work well for a hunting rifle too. I know I have read of some match rifle shooters who have had their rifles stocked similar to their shotguns and liked them a lot.
