I have a 4X Simmons 22 Mag scope sitting around the house and I wonder if those scopes are only for rimfire rifles or not.  If I could, I would like to mount it on a Thompson Contender carbine in 30 M1 Carbine but I'm not sure if even a light recoiling rifle round like the 30 M1 will tear up the scope or not.  Has anyone ever mounted one of these 22 mag scopes on a centerfire rifle with any success?

They will hold up just fine, the biggest diffrence is the parallax error settings. Rimfire scopes are normally adjusted for 50 yards, I think the 22 mg is set at 100 yards but don't quote me on that. 8)

Get it on and zeroed and don't mess with it after that, should hold up fairly well.
