I have captured some of your warnings about the range and the weather for the shoot, Double D.

Do not under estimate these temperatures.

Predictions for temps during the shoot are for mid 80s.

At 80 degrees here you will burn.

The air is much thinner.

The ground at the range is hard and rocky.

Humidity will be low and you will dry out.

Then there is the famous, Welcome to the northern Montana paradise you have read about picture.

Thanks for being brutally honest, DD, we like to know what we are getting into. Say, did you get the casting bench built yet?? No? Do you have two saw horses and 2 or 3 planks?

Ernie's not the only one who's getting excited. We are too!! Finished the Platform for the Brooke today. We will dust off the Chassis and Upper Carriage and mount the tube tomorrow! 'Bout time!!

We certainly have much appreciation for all that you have done, Double D. Never let that be in question! We can haul a couple of knock down saw horses in Mike's Camry. Maybe someone with a pickup can bring a few 4 or 6 foot long, 2 X 8 or 2 X 10, planks. Are rifled guns allowed to conduct counter-battery fire against the pristine, defending artillery pieces emplaced near the Fort? The five-book prize is packed, I better put it in his car or I'll forget it.

We don't have iron sights yet. They will be made after we return to CO. We do have a no-screw down mount for the old Weaver scope. Maybe we can adapt it to this tube. It will get us close, hopefully. If shooting at the artillery supporting the Fort is a contest with an award, we won't use that; we'll just sight over the tube.

Since shooting the fort is only for fun why use the scope..don't under estimate how easy it is to shoot a target this big and that includes the steel gun targets. You are selling yourself short by using the scope.

I would like to see the scope shot on paper and have made targets for use at 100 and 200 yards for just such use.

Well I heard from GeorgeG this morning. He made Missoula last night. As soon as he gets a trie fixed, he will be headed this way.

The Colorado contingent made Billings-Gary, Tracy and Mike visited the cannon foundry yesterday in Cody. If Gary is half as cranked up about that as Tracy was, I am going to have lay in a stock of valium for those guys.

Asron87 and his brother are supposed to be in this morning, I suspect young guys, drive marathon from Bismark... I use to do that, lucky to stay awake driving clear across town now.

MikeR C and his bride will trek over the mountains tomorrow...

Southpaw went on injured reserve list this week. We will have a work party head to the Taft Farms and Retirement center this afternoon to load up his cannon and pay our respects to the infirm..

Hey ! I'm brain dead not injured

Busy trying to get stuff organized , peel'd bottle rockets last night ,
Need to round up stuff , pile on floor is growing .
I can load every thing with tractor , just need help unloading BB motar when I get to CBCC II .
Got new shooting platform made for the BB mortar, wouldn't you know it , it's warped also . Must have something to do with the personality of builder.
Not sure if my powder man or my gunner can make it .

Me and my brother pulled into the Riverview RV Park around 4 in the morning. We slept in the car until breakfast at the Cafe and Grill. After a walk around town we returned to the campground and set up homebase. Now we're ready to take on the day. Unfortunately I lost my phone an hour before we left home, luckily the campground has internet.

Oooohhhh noooooo! This must mean that you two are contemplating changing the name of the state. Guys, I think this might cause a big commotion, so why not test the waters first by attempting a more minor alteration; maybe something like changing Cutbank to Douglasburgh, or better yet, how about Ernieville, after all Southpaw's been there longer.

For anyone who didn't make it... that would really suck because you're missing out. Great cannons, great door prizes and great company. This is mine and my brothers first cannon shoot but I'm pretty sure it's just the beginning. Can't wait to start school and start making my own cannons... preferably a rifled high power parrot cannon. Now we're off to DD's, can't wait to see what we learn tomorrow.
