Quick Perimeter Run
« on: April 23, 2010, 06:04:15 AM »
Thursday night I received a phone call from a Cocky asking if I could come out remove some redcoats as his ewes are about to drop.  Always happy to oblige, I headed out to his property at 9pm tonight.  After a chat over a cuppa and a packet Tim Tams we headed out for a perimeter run.

The long grass made it difficult to see any Basils in the house and machinery paddock.  The first Basil was spotted on a dam wall and was instantly dispatched with a 39gr BlitzKing which baked his scone.  "Thanks mate, that shot saved me $500" came from the ute cabin.  The shot was 264yds.

Other than the odd rabbit and very rounded ewes, nothing was seen in the other paddocks.  Heading back to the house the spotlight picked up another set of distinctive eyes in a granite outcrop.  The fox was very skittish and hard to get a bead while moving within the rocks.  Then Vixey came out in the open and was subsequently nailed in the right ribs while on the trot.  "Thanks mate, that's another $400."  I took another range reading after the shot, 226yds.

Back at the house, the Cocky asked if I was available for another quick run next week.  I had to think real hard before responding.

Regards

Drew

Nice hunt. You did good.

Now I need some translations. What is a Cockey and Tim Tams?? Got the redcoats, cuppa, ute, etc.

What is the rifle & scope and caliber?

  Yes Drew;
  I thoroughly enjoyed your story, but as with oldandslow..I need the same translations..I can guess "cuppa"..as tea and "redcoat" as a fox, rather than an 18th century British soldier..but the rest.. ;) :D

  Still, you did good... ;D
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)
