Is the 3-9X32 Timberline okay for for a Ruger #3?

I just acquired a new to me .223 caliber, Ruger #3 with Ruger #1 wood that I would like to scope.  I have wanted one of these for more than 40 years but I will probably not shoot it a lot therefore I am not looking to put a high dollar Leupold on her.  It will be used for an occasional 50 yard and 100 yard target shoot at the range.  It will not be a hunting gun as I am not a hunter.  It is a beautiful rifle that will be polished more than fired :)

I would like to maintain a flow profile on the scope but the Leupold VX-I 2-7X28 Rimfire scope that I have available does not have long enough eye relief.  It is about 1 - 1.5 " too short for comfortable offhand shooting.

In looking through current scopes I find that the Burris Timberline 3-9X32 has eye relief (3.75" - 5.0") that appears adequate.  Is this an OKAY scope?

How about some 'extension' rings for the scope you have? I know I have heard of such for Ruger No.1s as this is a common problem.

I have Millet offset/extension rings on all of my No. 1's and 3's. They work well.

It looks like that is the way I will have to go.  I have my Leupold FX-III 25X40 Silhouette scope mounted and I still have to really lean into it.  I believe it has as much eye relief as the Burris scopes do.  MY local Gander Mountain has good prices on Millet rings but no offset/extension rings in stock.  I will have to order a pair.

Thanks for both comments on the Millet rings.

Hey Autorim, I went to Millett's web site and could only find the Ruger extension ring sets for the Model 77 which uses two different height rings as opposed to the #1 using both rings of the same height.

Are you having to buy two complete M77 sets to get one set for the #1 or does Millett have what we need but not listed on thier web site?

Look at some shotgun scopes,many have more eye relife
