Kero is the same price here but my Coleman products run off Coleman fuel or unleaded gasoline. I remember when I was a kid back in the late fifties and early sixties, my Dad and GrandDad never bought Coleman fuel. They always went to the local Amoco and bought what they called white gas. It was unleaded gasoline before it became the normal thing. Your Coleman products should run off it too.

Another option might be propane in bulk refillable bottles.

Coleman is trying to promote many of the newer propane products.

i realize coleman is trying to move us to the propane stuff, but they have made the white gas lanterns and stoves for the last 50 yrs at least. i have a lot of their stuff and dont appreciate being STEERED in the direction they want me to be in.ill go back to kerosene for lanterns and wood for cooking afore ill buy any propane stuff.

DM, i would really like to try useing  gasoline. ive read that the additives and junk in the gas tends to plug stuff up in the lanterns. has anybody had any experience useing gasoline on a continuous basis?

It takes quite a while to clog the generator, and when it does, Coleman sells a replacement generator for regular gas.

Stock up on propane, it will likely get more expensive. ;)

High School science once told me that Coleman fuel was basically Naptha, which is available as VMP Naptha in the paint section of a good hardware store.
Police I know who investigate meth labs say they see Coleman fuel and VMP Naptha cans in the mess they have to deal with after a bust.
Hope this helps,
 :)

As I remember it the amoco white gas was high test or in other words higher octaine gasoline. I used it for years in standard coleman lanterns & stoves in the 50s & 60s. Don't think I've seen it in years.

My motorcycle calls for a higher octaine rating than I have available here on the island so I add octaine boost to the regular unleaded. Maybe that would work in the coleman stoves & lanterns. My gut feeling though is DM is right just burn the unleaded & see how it works. Were probably making this harder than it really is............ ;D

White gas was sold as Blazo many years ago.  I haven't checked, but it may still be available.  Lots of cabins in Alaska had Blazo boxes (held two square five gallon cans) nailed to the walls for cupboards.
