Remington 40-XB .257 Weatherby Built 1970
« on: April 24, 2010, 04:25:22 PM »
I am unable to locate any information or mention of Remington Custom shop chambering rifles in Weatherby calibers during the 1970's with Weatherby Trademark.
I have a Remington 40-XB factory chambered in Weatherby .257 mag. The Barrel is blued, 26" heavy contour,1in12". Barrel is marked with Weatherby trademark signature, Remington date Code T, Remington proof, bottom of barrel serial numbered to receiver.
Any information would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a heck of a rig there.  Wish I knew more about it other than I would like one myself.

After much research;

The Varmit contoured Barrel is a Timken barrel installed by Weatherby in Southgate on the 40X reciever that was provided by a customer during the early 1960's.
I orignally thought it to be odd that R

After much research;
The circled T on the barrel is not a Remington date Code.. My 40x receiver serial number 28,XXXb dates to the early 1960'2.
The Barrel is a varmit contour Timken Barrel installed by Weatherby in Southgate on a customer provided 40x action.
