Bad Weather!
« on: April 24, 2010, 06:17:07 PM »
You folks down in La., Miss., and Alabama ok?  How about you Graybeard?  Looks like some rough weather in your neck of the woods!  Prayers going out for the pore folks over in Miss., looks like they need all the help they can get.  You guys keep your heads down and keep your loved ones tucked in safe until this stuff blows over!

We're far better here than the folks in Yazoo, MS where a tornado did considerable damage from what I hear. It was pretty rough here with high winds and almost continuous thunder and lightning for close to 24 hours. I was out looking around this morning in the yard and found no damage here.

The storm started Friday just around dark and ended some time in the wee hours this morning. It's now sunny and bright out. I dumped 3.9" from the rain gage on this one. They were predicting 2" so I got almost double the prediction.

On the bright side we did get the garden tilled and planted some okra, squash, carrots and radishes Friday before the rain began. It doesn't appear the rain washed them out so hopefully it will give all of them a good start. I had hoped to get more stuff in the ground Saturday morning but it was far too muddy by then.

Great that you had no damage!  If we got almost 4" of rain in that short period this little desert town would be under water!

Out in my garden yesterday and I have zuchini about as big as my little finger and some little crooknecks as well.  You reminded me that I still have to plant my okra.

We got hit hard here in Miss this week-end, all Friday night and Sat, warnings all day Saturday, we stayed in the basement most all night and day, minor tree damage, the bad storms were south of us, the people in Yazoo City needs our prayers and help,

Bill, glad to hear things have settled down for y'all.  The sprinkles you got should keep the dust down and make the grass grow.  For all the folks who have endured nature's tantrum--I feel for all of you.
