Howdy -

Does anybody have a Taurus Tracker in .45 Colt? If so, what do you think of it and how does it shoot?

Thanks,

Steve

I "hopefully" have one on order. I say that advisedly as when I called yesterday to verify the dealer had located one for me he didn't seem to happy about me calling and said no he hadn't. I offered to give him the name and toll free phone number of the guy at Taurus USA to call and get the name of a distributor who has them in stock. He let me know real quick he had no interest or need for the name or number, that he knew who to contact and that his rep would check on it but they didn't have one in stock.

Problem is that the distributor his rep works for stocks very few Taurus guns other than the RBs. And he doesn't seem interested in contacting Taurus USA for them. So next week when I check on it again if he doesn't have it I'll go to another dealer to have one ordered.

I have one.   It is the 4" model, got it about 3 months ago.  Mine is a pretty good gun.  Good finish and fit, crisp trigger although somewhat heavy. (3lb sa, about 12lb da) The grip is great and the ports work well but given a choice I would have rather had a nonported one.  (they don't make that version yet) I bought it for use as a trail gun and it is very good in that roll.  It is the size of a S&W 686 but lighter.  I have had handloads up to 900fps with 270gr hard cast bullets although the manual says nothing over 900fps with 255gr.  No signs of pressure and easy extraction.  So far my groups tend to run in the 2.5" to 3.5" range @ 25yrds. with the best groups so far.  I haven't really tried working up "the" load for it yet but will once I get more time.  If you want a gun to pack, the 4" is it!  It is very light and compact for the caliber and can still be used to hunt with if you want. (I plan to give it a try) If you want a gun to hunt and just shoot, get the 6".  Better sight radius and added velocity.
