Winch ?

Any of you fellows know where I can purchase a smallish electric winch cheap...cheap beiing the operative term?  I would prefer 110v but I can make a 12v work fine.  I also would need a remote control cable.

I just reread this post...man I hope Newt don't get back soon; he'll have me goin to road houses :-D

How small?  How much do you plan on using it?
I would check out some place like harbor freight tools.  Chicago also makes some cheap winches.
BTW I only base this on research for 4x4 applications.

I have a manually operated wench.   The wench doesn't get much done unless you're there to make it happen.    I'm not sure of her voltage but every so often the wench flies off the handle and sends out a shock like  220 volts.   I'd love to have a remote control unit for my wench but I can't even control her half the time in person.   Besides I'm afraid where that remote unit might end up and I'd hate to have to go to the emergency room to get a remote control unit extracted.   The original purchase price was cheap but the wench has cost me 37 years of my life since.

I just about hate Harbor Freight.  That said they do have a number and they are cheap and may be just the tinhg.  Thanks for reminding me. :D

Now there are two types, both are portable more or less, one is Free Spooling and the other has a hand crank and is a squarish contraption and says power in power out.  What is the difference between the two types?

Well, I'm either gettin old or lazy or both  :( .  Im going (thinking seriously) to replace my trusty ole come-along I use to skin coyotes with the winch.  When I get my line out I'm running a couple hundred or so sets a day and averaging about 140 miles.  I do all the skinning and fleshing plus taking care of busines problems.  I  just want to stream line one portion of the operation so I will have time with the family.  I figured I could get away with a pretty low end unit but...well I've been bitten (bit myself) in the past when I've tried to cut cost  .  Oh well!  :?
