 Thanks Mactech;
     I was aware of the CBees being slightly more powerful and a hair louder. I also knew the CCI CBs are more consistant, but I didn't know just why.
  Thanks for the disection report, it clarifys much !
  The Colibris to me have only one reason for use..they produce even less noise than the others. I am convinced that both CCI and Aguila produce very consistant rounds, much more so than Rem (IMO).
    Along the same line, I haven't tried the newer Winchester HP subsonics, but they look very interesting. A gaping large hollowpoint, a full 40 grains @ 1065 fps.

I havent been a fan of Rem either; seems I have had more duds and light loads with them though the years than any other brand (except some REALLY bad Russian stuff), however, I have been very satisfied with the Rem. 22 Subsonic that I picked up a few years ago. They have been quiet and done the job on some yard marauders for me. I tried them because so many old squirrel hunters favored the std.velo.22Shorts, and those with a 29gr. bullet, that I thought the 40ish grain would do even better. Works for me.

Hey MacTech, are those Rem. CBees the 'newish LR' ones? I just saw some today; I know the others were CB Short and CB Long, but this was the first I was aware of a LR classification. They were listed as a 33 Gr HP at 740fps(?).

I like both the cb longs and the super Aquila

I used to live in a 77 unit apartment complex and my back porch/sliding window overlooked a neighbors big garden. I took a few groundhogs out of there with a ruger 10/22 being single fed the cb's at about 30 yards... big uns too...

I tried and played with the Aquila and they were fun then Sportsman's guide had a blow out on the super colbir's of 5.00 a brick and I got a case of em- should have gotten several.

They work for close in varmint control and practice. I like having them around although I use the pellet guns more for those uses.

I've tried the colibs in a remington model 572 (pump) with good results out to about 30 yards.  They are effective, but I prefer the CCI CB Longs.  I don't do it often, but when I shoot the CBs, I use a beautiful old winchester 1890 .22 Long (made in January 1901).  The old rifle is in perfect condition and is a tack driver, again, out to about 100 ft. (yeah I know that's about 30 yards, too).  The 1890 shoots the Longs better than the Remington shoots the Longs or the colibs.  So, my recommendation is go get a hundred year old 1890 .22 long shooter, first, then you can better nail down which ammo to use.  The choice will be made for you.

 My versa-pac shoots CCI cblongs very well. I was trying them last year to help rid the world of european starlings. Problem was they would fall over flapping then get up and fly away. I switched to Rem. subsonics.... a bit more "bang" but no more fly-aways.
