Got me a new ride
« on: April 28, 2010, 04:45:29 AM »
It was very hard for me to do,but I traded my 08 Road Glide for a new 08 Goldwing.I live on a gravel road and the stories about gravel getting into the belt got to me.I take long trips sometimes and the belt breaking 100 miles from nowhere finnally got to me. The wing has the heated grips and seats plus navi. pks.and rides and handles alot lighter than the Harley, but lacks the straight line stability of the R.G. (especially in a cross wind) The first tank got 37.5,and the second was 40 mpg. And thats running 70 on the 4 lane with about 30% intown riding. The GL will pull from 20 mph to ? in 5 th gear very strongly, and the wind protection is alot better. I'm looking to ride it on a Ironbutt ride in June (after I install a backrest)and I think Im going to enjoy it..     ;D ;D ;D  Digger

While you are going to be good to go this season, you can enhance your ride with a pair of the Metzler 880 series tires. I have a set on the Vulcan and they were an incredible difference over the stock bridgestones.

They are suppose to last for 20k on a Wing and 17k on an FL. I read the reasoning behind this but seem to have forgot.
