BigFoot vs Police K-9
« on: April 29, 2010, 12:21:10 AM »
This subject was touched on some years back and no one mentioned Police K-9's. I am a K-9 handler and have been for 10yrs. My dept still tracks suspects at night and I have tracked in some of the remotest, nastiest woods around East TN and have never had a problem with a trained dog turning tale. Police K-9's are trained to fight subjects in bite suits (60lb - 90lb. dogs taking on a 250lb man plus the suit) and are picked for their alpha personalities. I have used Shepherds and Malinios I know what they are capable of doing as far as tracking and in apprehension so why not try and recruit a willing police K-9 to a fresh encounter site for a track. If its a fresh track 24 hrs or less I believe I could track one. If it breaks brush and leaves tracks it leaves scent. Especially to some of the members on here who have property with continued encounters. So whats ya'lls thoughts on this subject.

From reports I read of bigfoot encounters, lone dogs in the area of a "bigfoot" are at great risk of being torn to pieces. If this is true, would you risk a professionally trained, loyal tracker dog of getting brutally killed? I wouldn't. If there were even a hint of some big primate being in the area, my dog and I are out of there pronto. Same holds true for grizzly or wolf pack. My dog is way too precious to me to be out there.

Bear pretty well hit it on the head. Also, when most encounters occurred, the dogs were scared silly. Literally, messed themselves, ran and hid. Many think it is something about knowing when a super predator is near.

I dont see the risk to the dog we track on 15' line so I'd be with the dog and i haven't heard of dogs being killed like you say. I would be interested to see any reports or stories on this subject. We have no griz here in TN or surrounding states but suppose to have plenty of BigFoot sightings. And if it ment a capture of a live animal the dog is a tool same as my Glock or flashlight.

I believe the dog would only be able to track the "bigfoot" to where it entered its car/truck and drove away. I don't think the dog would be able to track it to its home as once ya drive away that's the end of trail.

I have to agree with Graybeard. I personally knew bigfoot who once lived in Arkansas. He always got in his truck and drove away after leaving a trail of tracks.

Old Bud was amazed how his little stunt to scare away a little competition for spring turkey. Turned into something that ended up with get this actual "eyewitnesses" seeing old bigfoot all over that area. There were stories in the news papers and TV. And the Bigfoot Research center said the tracks were some of the best they had ever cast and estimated the Bigfoot was 8 feet tall from the stride length and weighed 800 lbs. Now old bud. Was about 6'4" and 240 lb.

So when are the trailcam pics coming? We have millions and millions of trail cams out there. Where are the pics?

I guess there are lots of naysayers on any subject, Just cause it did not happen to you, guess there is no merit in it?
There are lots of us here, that something happened to. Er there use to be lots of us here, Might be the reason the "bigfoot" forum tanked, and lots of the old posters left.
Go back 7-8 pages, there are lots of good stories.

It is interesting what we enjoy talking about. In our area we do not hear much about Bigfoot. However over the years I have read about some kind of sea monster over in Iliamna Lake, cougars running around east end road, African Lions at Skilak Lake etc. All of this makes the newspaper as well.

I agree.  Bigfoot has a driver's license.
However, I've seen coon hounds come back to the truck scared stiff.    Why? I don't know.

It doesn't take much to get one's imagination churning.   My little grandson now believes in Bigfoot.  He's been pampered all his young life with daycare centers and supervised play.   Out here on the farm one day we were shoeing horses, and he and his mamma came by.   The men were talking about Bigfoot, and the little fella was all ears.  Later he told his mamma he had to go - - -.  Since we were working near my house, she told him 'okay' and that gramma was in the house.   But he kept telling his mamma to take him.   Finally she said; "why can't you go by yourself?" --  "Because Bigfoot's in the front yard. "  he replied.....

FourBee, I saw that happen once over in the Chaumont Barrens back in the 60's. The dog was a bluetick, came back with its tail down and wouldn't leave its owners side. We had to put it back in its pen on the back of the truck. We never did figure it out as we didn't hear any coyotes or anything else.

I think you all are correct about Big Foot having a license to drive and I'm not convinced 100% either way, but I would love to prove it a hoax or real once and for all. When I was a kid I coon hunted with a neighbor and his dogs came back scared once, he said it was a bear that probably scared his dogs!? I don't know just would like the chance to get a real answer.

Hey Zeke:   I've heard that before too.  But we know men hunt bear and cougars all the time with hounds.  Only if the odds turn against a hound will they run, (like two to one), in my experience, but that didn't take the bravery out of 'em, cause when they got some back-up they were right back in the scrap.  So it's a big puzzle. ???

That's about the best thing said so far ! I see people send $4000.00 + dogs after big bears that kill them and rip them up , ya'll think a big foot dog is a whimp or what ?

For more information on this topic, go to  www.bfro.net .
Just because you know of someone who made fake tracks, does not mean that all tracks are fake, especially when they are encountered 15 miles up a logging road where there's about zero chance of anyone seeing them. This site catalogs hundreds of sightings by state or province, county, and year. There's also an examination of evidence collected so far.
If hunters who report seeing something weren't automatically dismissed as drunks or liars, we might hear a lot more.
One negative about this site: they allow no firearms on their expeditions, and kicked me off when I commented on the foolishness of this.

Toysoldier yes they have a good web site and they absolutely will not allow guns on research trips, really doesn't make much sense to me I would want several just in case and you could put a end to this epic battle of yes there is or no there is not a Bigfoot! Have you looked at KYBigfoot also a good website.

The purpose of the expeditions would be to let people get a glimpse of Big Foot, or at least see his tracks.  No one in their right mind would want to be out there making tracks with an army of sharpshooters close by. ;D ;D

True, they would hate to have their guy who is in the monkey suit get shot. I bet they are making a killing off of this silliness. So where are the trail cam pics?
