Well guys, we had a work day at the church and I was sent to town to get some stuff at the hardware and this is where I buy all my guns and reloading supplies. Well we were rummaging around in the back for some items he doesn't always have on hand when he says you got any pistol primers to which I reply a couple hundred. Then comes the news!!!!

Winchester Small Pistol Primers 15,000 of the things!!!! Guess what it cost me --- $245 out the door, Do the math $1.49 per hundred pretax. I ordered a 357 Handi and a 357 Rossi while I was there.

He said it would take him awhile to get both due to backorders at his distributors (I think I can wait). My father-in-law ordered the .358 casting mold for 158 grain with gas checks. We got 48 pounds of assorted  powders that can be used to load 38spl and 357mag.

I am soooo excited.

I was at my friends gunshop last week when he got a heavy box from UPS.  He opened it and it was 25,000 primers - CCI, didn't see what size(s).  He showed me his invoice and his cost was $28/1000 w/freight & hazmat.  Your shop must know somebody at the primer factory.  You're going to need another 40,000 or 50,000 primers to use all that pistol powder.  You have a lot or reloading and shooting ahead of you and I am jealous.   Enjoy your new rifles in they arrive.

Last time I bought Small Pistol primers was at the height of Obama mania 13 months ago. The day before, I had gone to Gander Mountain and bought 10 packs of 100 for $4 each. Went to the store 2 miles from my house and he had 3K of the samle primers at $16.79 a K. Did not need them. Bought them just to average my cost down. Stupid huh?

Not one bit.  It is not unlike locating the best price for gasoline in town.  You can't always get the best deal, but when you need some, have some in hand, and there appears to be a shortage, you strike while that iron is hot and never look back.  Good shooting...

I still gotta a little ways to go to blasting. I gotta stock up on brass and get all my casting stuff set up. I am figuring in about 6 months (just in time for deer season) I will be ready.
