Encore Problem

I have a encore in 260 rem. I get primer protusion into the firing pin hole, just enough it wont open easily. Was using handloads so i tried some rem factory loads. Same thing. Does anyone have some answers or ideas on this ? Thanks, Al.

Usually an oversized firing pin hole is the culprit or an undersized firing pin. On some occations a soft hammer spring may cause it or excessive headspace too. Open the gun and push the pin forward and see how tightly it fit's in the backing plate hole. There shouldn't be much room around the pin. The whole unit is easily changed by removing that allen head bolt above the firing pin on the hammer side. TC should replace it if it's faulty.
