shot placement on hogs
« on: November 20, 2003, 03:13:15 AM »
dumb question, put where do you aim/place your shot on hog?  I know where to place the shot on whitetail, seen the diagrams where to place the shot on black bears--which is lower than whitetails.  So is there anyplace in particular to place the shoots.  Thanks.

Here is a previous post on the subject.  There's a good pic/diagram here that should help answer your question.  If they're close enough, I like to shoot them behind the ear.  Otherwise, I just shoot for the heart/lung area like other big game.  I like a bullet that exits to leave a better blood trail.  Holes in hogs have a bad habit of "sealing" up with fat, so a big exit hole is nice to keep the blood flowing.  I like the Barnes X out of my 6.5X55.
