Wolfman of Alaska
« on: May 04, 2010, 06:00:37 PM »
Somebody here turned me on to this book so I ordered it from Amazon.  About half way through it tonight and wow, is it ever interesting. It is very intertaining reading and you learn some good stuff also.  I spent 21 days in the Alaska sticks a few years ago so I can picture what life could have been like in the early 1900s.  One tough, smart, dude.

Order it for yourself.  I promise you will enjoy it.

The latter part of his book is about govt wolf trapping Northwest Alaska(upper seward Pen) and Selawik and Noatak river drainages, this is really neat country.I live at the present day transportation hub for the region (Kotzebue aka OTZ)

Some the books I like .
Fifty Years Below Zero: By Charles Brower -Early waler/storkeeper& settler of Barrow AK
Ice Blink:By Scott Cookman -Sir John Franklin's quest for the NW passage
The Firecracker Boy's:By Dan O'Neill- Project Chariot- the too close for comfort plans to detonate 5 atom bomb's on the Arctic Coast of Alaska.
Alaska Pioneer Bush Pilot:By Ira Harkey a bio of Noel Wien

OTZ is tucked right in there where the action had happened, The wreck of the John Riley, Chamisso Island and its history in the search of SirJohn Franklins expidition, The burning of a waleing sloop close to the island, rades on Yankee waleing fleet in Arctic Waters by the confederate raider CSS Shenandoah in June 1865 , The gold mining city of Candle Ak massive cannal dug by had by Russians?? Road house own'd by Charles Lindburgh, Elephant Point, Jade Mountain, WWII Mucktuk Marstons ATG & Many others.
