new CCW bill in Georgia, and what Obama thinks of it
« on: May 06, 2010, 01:12:52 PM »
National Public Radio aka Communist Radio just reported that the Obama Administration opposes legislation now to be sent to the Georgia governor regarding concealed carry to be allowed in nonfederal areas of airports.  It sounds like Georgia hunters and shooters need to write to the governor.  Congratulations on having pro-gun legislators and in sending a message to DC.

I should think he would.  'course he is a polititian and you never can trust them.  But I think he would get a lot of heat from the mainstream Georgians if he didn't.  The new national socialist party (metro democrats) are going to complain whatever happens.

Oops!   :o  It almost seems like I'm taking a position and expressing an opinion there!   ::)  Sorry...  :-[

You don't want to take no position there at law...... ;D  But I will. Concieled carry everywhere, read even in airplanes, by law abiding citizens is homeland security.

I deeply resent people that can't even speak english checking me through security for a flight. It it were possible I would quit flying but where I live flying is necessary.

Of course on our bush planes guns are still Ok. I remember my first artic flight years ago, and delcaring the fact that I had a casule 454 in my duffle bag to the little eskimo girl at the bush plane counter. Her response was "So".

Guns are a way of life in alaska and no one cares what your carring until you get to the big carriers.

GeorgiaCarry.org has been pushing the legislation.  I expect Gov Purdue will sign it but it is for sure he will have cover not to sign it unless we call his office at 404 656 1776 and ask him to sign it.  rp

From the NRA post I just rec'd.

GEORGIA:  Two Pro-Gun Bills Awaiting the Governor's Consideration! Two important pro-gun bills (Senate Bill 291 and Senate Bill 308) have both successfully passed and are now on Governor Sonny Perdue's (R) desk for his consideration. SB291 would allow a person lawfully licensed to carry a firearm the right to carry in all non-secure areas of airports, as well as while dropping off or picking up passengers at an airport.  Also included in the bill is a provision that would make the license renewal process much easier.  Instead of the licensee having to remember to renew, the probate court will be required to send out renewal notices 90 days before expiration.  SB308 would reform Georgia's concealed carry laws so that the concealed carry license would enable the person to carry any handgun or knife, openly or concealed.  SB 308 would also allow Georgia Firearm License holders to carry in more places by repealing the broad and vague "public gathering ban."  Please continue to contact Governor Perdue today by phone at (404) 656-1776 or via e-mail by clicking here and respectfully urge him to sign SB291 and SB308.  Also, please e-mail State Senator David Shafer (R-48) at david.shafer@senate.ga.gov and State Senator Mitch Seabaugh (R-28) at mail@mitchseabaugh.com and thank them for all their efforts with these important bills.
