QB-78 Deluxe 22 Cal.

Hey there:

Any of you shooting/and/or have any experience with the QB-78 sold by Archer Airguns ?? My cousin and I just minutes ago ordered one each. Have read good stuff about them, and have seen pictures on here with guys and squirrels bagged with them.

Well, anyway, looking forward to getting mine and doing some shooting with it.

Hey casper! I have no experience with the QB78 but have heard good things about the gun. There is a good video about it on the compasseco airgun site. I have given some earlier thought to the QB78 or crosman 2260 I was lookin for a 22cal. and read up on both of these air rifles. Have had my QB-78 Deluxe 2 days, now. I am really shocked by it's quality, hard hitting, and accuracy. Put a 2x9 air gun scope on, this baby rocks. I am in the process of finding it's favorite pellets. It seems to like them all pretty good. I've almost shot several 1 hole groups, coming real close. The trigger pull is really good for an air gun of this cost.

I'll tell you one thing, for an all around shooter, this thing is awesome. I am an old experienced air gun man. I have the Beeman R-1, two RWS Model 34s, and various other air guns. This gun is capable of fine accuracy, power to kill squirrels, and a good general all around air rifle. I'm well pleased with mine. Wish I had got one a long time ago. I got this one from Archer Airguns, quick shipment, etc.

I'll let you know about it as I go along. I love my springers, but after a long shooting session, you get worn down. Of course, I will keep mine and keep shooting them, but for really good ole lazy shooting, this CO2 QB-78  is a winner.

     I've had a QB-78 for a few years now. Actually, I think the only original parts on it are the barrel and receiver. One winter I had some heart trouble and needed a low stress time killer. Starting with a $65 QB, how wrong could I go? By springtime I had a custom stocked, bulk filled, verrrrrrry quiet air gun (an extremely efficient, um, muzzle brake )

     I can't speak well enough about Archer Airguns. Stephen is a very good man to do business with; don't hesitate to order parts from him. First class family run business all the way.

     If you decide to customize your gun, there are a lot of possibilities. Guys have been doing the PCP change to them for a while, with more or less successful results. Keep in mind that the gun was never designed for 3000 pounds of pressure, and then there's that $200 pump. There is, at the end, a lot of money invested for a small gain. But what do I know, I've probably got well over $600 in my $65 gun project. The triggers are especially easy to tune, capable of weight well under a pound. Google can be your best friend here.

     Put a drop of Crosman Pellgun Oil on a co2 cylinder every third or fourth recharge to keep internal parts lubed and you'll be surprised how accurate and consistent it can be. Oh, and .22 cal Gamo round balls are nearly as accurate as pellets, and a lot easier to load, especially with a scope mounted. Good luck!
