12 gauge Topper value
« on: May 08, 2010, 11:45:30 AM »
What is the value of a 12 gauge Topper with a choke tube?  It has the shiny receiver and the black painted stock.  It is in good, but not new condition.  A friend of mine took one as a debt repayment.  He asked me if I was interested in it, but I am not familiar with the going rate for this shotgun.  Thanks for your input.

In my area about $150 dollars at a gun shop. If it was in like new condition $ 175 would bring it home

Bud's last price was $151 shipped, others list it for $160-$207,  I found none in stock anywhere online.  :-\

It has a 3.5 inch chamber.  I was thinking if I had the forcing cone lengthened, and put some weight in the butt, it would be a good turkey gun.

I've got a 20ga Topper Deluxe Classic with the vent rib which makes mounting sights easy, with a Trulock Precision Hunter full choke and Federal Heavyweight 1½oz 7s, it's devastating on a turkey target at 40yds, the 12ga would be even more lethal with a 2oz load, unfortunately on both ends, that's why I went to a 20ga, tired of being beat up by the 12ga loads in the 835. :D

I think I priced one of those out at my local shop earlier this year when I was deciding what to do about a turkey gun. (My kid decided he was going to use my 835) I'm pretty sure he quoted me $169

I'd go no higher than $125 used.  That said, these are a very handy tool to have around, mine is my go anywhere, do almost everything I need a shotgun to do truck gun.  Mine is not for sale at any sane price.
