Playin' with the versa pack.
« on: May 09, 2010, 05:33:49 PM »
I have been playin' around with my new to me versa pack 22 barrel. I got a few different kinds of ammo to try in the little gem and to see how it shoots. So far I've got some CCI stingers, a Federal 550 pack, Winchester 333 pack, Rem. thunderbolts and some CCI CB shorts. So far I can't find anything that it shoots poorly. It just plain shoots good with all of them. ;D The CB shorts are a riot... I think my pellet gun is louder than these things. I have used it to take 3 red squirrels so far. I shot them with the Winchester hollowpoints and it hammered the little fella's :D It's crazy how much fun you can have with a little single shot 22.
I like the little gun so much it might just be my new favorite. ;D

Same with me, the Sportster barrel is working well with everything so far. I've yet to try any hyper-velo stuff, since for that I have the UH 22 WMR.
In fact, this next weekend I'm taking it to a casual 'match' to use in the 'boy's rifle' class for silhouette out to 50yd rams, 22 CB shorts only.

I was out shooting the CB shorts earlier today poppin' some tin cans. This little rifle is a hoot. :D
I'd like to get in on some matches like that... I bet it would be fun. Just don't know of any around here. :-\

 Hey Spank,
Couldn't agree with you more. Anything you put in them shoots well, more fun than a
six pack & its lasts. Got a receiver& barrel from Arrowstar, stuck a Andy MSP stock on it & never
looked back. The only reason I was competed with ya on the last one you got was my grandaughter
wanted one but she will have this one ;D Enjoy I Have. fred

I have the same story here with my Versa Pack, it shoots anything you feed it very well. I put a Williams FP peep with target knobs on mine and it's a tack driver. My kids love shooting it, I have a youth straight grip on it for them.

Well Spanky, I shot the Boy's Rifle .22CB match and took 2nd place with 14 of 20 (only got one turkey).
It was std .22RF silhouettes, 4 banks of 5 at the reduced distances of chickens@13 1/2yd, pigs@25, turkeys@37 1/2. and rams@50. All offhand with open sights, .22CB Shorts only, no sight adjustments after sight in. You have to hit the rams above center, preferably in the top third, to make them fall.
The H&R works great for this! And if anybody thinks it should be easy, nobody has 'cleaned' the course in three years of shooting this match, and these boys are shooters.
The two 14 yr old boys we had for target setters for the full size match shot with us and one took 3rd. in a shoot-off. Most of the rifles were Rem. No.6 and 4, Stevens Marksman & Favorite, etc.
I highly recommend this!
