I took one of my boys' friends home tonight after he spent the day with us. He lives out of town about 10 miles on a long side road. Dropped him off and on the way back out, my boy says what's that? I was watching chuck holes and not looking around. Looked up and all I could think was caribou because it was so light and didn't show up against the brush along the road. But I knew it shouldn't be a caribou. Then I saw the tail and it walked to the middle of the road and was clearly a wolf. It wandered off across the road and into the woods. We pulled up to about where it crossed and the boys spotted it standing in the brush about 20 yards back. Too much brush for a photo but its the best look I've ever had of a wild wolf. Stood for about 30-40 seconds then wandered back into the brush. Called our friends and warned them to keep an eye out for their dogs and chickens.
Amazing, a mundane chore all of a sudden became a brief adventure.
