Nice ride, good party, bad forks...
« on: May 10, 2010, 09:09:02 AM »
Went on a run to Montgomery, Alabama this weekend for a Club party.  Only about a 150 miles, but great weather and a good run down.

The party was great as only biker parties can be!   ;D

Coming back on the slab my eyes started burning and watering and shades started getting all smudged looking.  By the time we stopped I was having a real hard time seeing and was pretty uncomfortable.  Fortunately I was in the back of the pack so I had dropped back to give myself a little more reaction time.

Well, it seems like my fork seals had started leaking!   :o  The oil was blowing back and up, going right under my sunglasses, getting into my eyes and coating the insides of the lenses!   ::)

So we wrapped the forks with some rags and bungee corded them in place and I made the rest of the ride without to much problem.   :-\  Such is life...   :D

Never had that happen but in the 70's i had an ole AMF Harley super-glide and my buds made me ride in the back due to oil leakage and parts falling off. I carried leather saddle bags with oil cans, that was pre plastic bottle days, and when I filled the gas tank up I also topped off the oil reservoir.   :o
