this is happening all over America......against the American people... coming police state...we were warned about life in USSR......now tazers are the 'rubber hose' of the enforcers......an example.......

For the years and countless search warrants I ran, and helped run, that never happened to me or anyone I knew. It does happen, but the real question is HOW! I have never understood it.

Our police dept's. have been militarized.I have seen it happening more and more over the years.
My little town of six thou. has a police force that looks more like the army, than a PD. The shaved heads, the Army type lingo they use.Back when I was a kid,the police were our friends and neighbors. Today they like to keep to themselves. Almost like they don't want to know the people they are paid to protect and serve.

I know there are some great cops out there still, but their numbers are declining. The police state in America appears to be progressing along smoothly.

yeah? and how do you know it is the wrong house? another forum i belong to posted this and there was no mention of it being the wrong house, but it was mentioned the guy was a known drug dealer. if you have information otherwise, i would love to see it.
now this one is self explanitory. a cop shoots a biker in the back. nice, real nice. and, after he fell over the exhaust was burning his leg and the cops just sat there and would not take the bike off of him. the guys buddy ended up doing it.

I used to type my own search warrants. A complete description of the residence MUST BE on the warrant, color of house, roof, direction it faces, out buildings, if any, cars if any, address, number of occupants, SPECIFICALLY WHAT YOUR LOOKING FOR, and on and on. It baffles me how anyone could hit the wrong house.

my concern is that internet videos and the accompanying story often times are b.s.. i am just trying to figure out if this was a legit warrent being served or if it is like you say and the wrong house. if there was a legit warrent, i have no problem with it. if it was the wrong house, i have a huge problem with it. just trying to get to the facts.

Well not know anything about the case, it is hard to determine. This video could have been shot on a perfectly legal search warrant, and posted as something else. Who knows?

I myself and my brother have never had this issue with a search warrent on the wrong house. Yes it does and can happen. But it is very very rare. With the human factor there will be mistakes. So TM should they ban all search warrants because one in 10 million is wrong? Heck as far as I can tell this is one of your many false stories. Just because they put it on the internet doesn't make it true.

There's a lot involved. Sending SWAT into a home, shooting a man's animals, and terrifying the family like that is some pretty serious stuff. Even if the warrant is legit, it depends on what it was for as to whether or not this was excessive. Simple pot posession? They overstepped their bounds. Murder charges? The level of force was likely justified.

It's important that the cops know that varying levels of force must be applied as necessary. Video cameras, audio recordings, and the internet (a delivery mechanism by which people can exchange info faster than ever forseen - and faster than many politicians and governments are comfortable with - Obama even spoke out a few days ago about how uncomfortable he is with information being spread on the net) are all new toys in the hands of citizens. These things help us keep the police officers honest.

I sincerely doubt that corruption in the ranks is any more common now than it was previously. It just happens to be the case that when an incident happens, more often than not, it's up on Youtube the next day. Heck I even saw some attempts at local legislation a while back that were trying to make it a crime to video tape a police officer on duty without his knowledge. It ended up failing because of, ironically, strong negative publicity generated from the posting of the drafts on the net.

i DIDN'T SEE ANY WRONG HOUSE IN THAT VIDEO. Hey there are stupid people around so it stands to reason that there are stupid LEO as well! I'm not a LEO but I see it the way Dee does, Gotta be some well thought out stupidity to bust in the wrong house. I'm sure it can and has happened!

I fear that if it happens at my house, me a some LEO are gonna get shot! Because if I dont realize in time that they are LEO I'm gonna shoot first. and BP vest wont help[ em.

Been reading up a bit on this.

- From what I've been able to gather, it doesn't appear that it was the wrong house.

- It was a raid on what was thought to be a marijuana dealer with a large quantity of "high grade" marijuana on hand.

- No high quantity was found. A tiny amount of pot was found resulting a misdemeanor charge for the guy in the video. The police are claiming that he was tipped off and moved his stuff earlier. I suppose that's possible, but I don't understand why if he was tipped off he'd keep ANY quantity around for a while.

- They shot 2 dogs during the raid. They wounded a Corgi, and killed a pit bull. The pit bull was apparently in a cage in the kitchen.

- The Columbia, MO has acknowledged that the incident could have been handled better, and is investigating the issue and has already implemented changes to hopefully prevent harmless pets from being killed during raids. They've also changed the protocols for giving such a raid the go ahead so that a officer of higher rank than before must give the go ahead.

this is why i asked for more information..... i dont assume anything ESPECIALLY if it is on the net. there are many reasons that there could be an investigation and a review of policy; like shooting a dog that is in a cage. i hate pitbulls, but it is pretty hard to argue that a caged dog is much of a threat to anyone unless they are in the cage.

When my son in law was in an SF group, they would go to various towns and train SWAT teams on forced entry tactics, etc. He said many of these guys should not even be allowed to carry a badge, much less a gun.

IMO, they are getting carried away with the "swat".

Just like Waco. They could have waited until that guy left the house and picked him up. A raid on a compound where innocents are, is most often not justified, just as a police chase at high speed through residential neighborhoods is often uncalled for. If they got the guys tag, and he's not armed and dangerous, pick him up later.....

But then, I'm not a cop and probably don't know what I speak of....we all gots' our opinions....

I don't know why thay can'twatch and catch the guy away from the house--it would be a lot more safe and women and children would not be put at risk.
The way this happened it could have turned into a real blood bath. Ten cops, none in uniforms, almost busted in my door one night---it was close--I had a shotgun at the ready when I finally understood what they were yelling.
I had sold an old car about six months before and it was involved in a shoplifting. When they couldn't find the car they came too my house---found out later, by mail, that the car was impounded when they came looking for me.
You got folks half asleep and a bunch of folks yelling and no one can understand what they are saying--in this case all were in plain clothes. Damn near shot thru the door.
In retrospect, I took a hell of a chance believing them anyway---how did I know.
Cops don't use a lot of common sense these days---IMO.

ACTUALLY, having the RIGHT HOUSE, changes the scenario ENTIRELY. Just because they did not get the BIG BUST, does not mean that the BIG BUST was never there. Working informants and getting PERFECT INTELL, is a "pipe dream" of most "arm chair quarterbacks". Real world doesn't work that way. If it did, they would all be BIG BUSTS, and as everyone knows whom has "actually been there" knows it ain't that way in real life. I never met a narc that wanted to go thru the hoops and jumps to make a misdemeanor bust, and the mountains of paper work, but sometimes that happens.
NOW! As for shootin a pit bull in a cage? That's pretty extreme, and I think all pit bulls need shootin, but that was way over the top. As for the corgi? If it was runnin loose just because their cute, doesn't mean they can't do some damage. Their herd dogs, so they ain't sissy's. I won't judge'em on that cause I wasn't there.
TM7. As far as this "type of work" goes? You truly don't know what your talkin about, and I DO know what I'm talkin about. Your information was faulty from the get go, so why not just call it a day on this one. They didn't do everything right, but they weren't even close to being as wrong as you reported.
The house was secured in a orderly fashion, and I saw no one mistreated. And as I said. The penned dog is another story entirely, and that obviously is goin to be directed at most likely ONE officer.

regarding the penned dog, i would have to give them the benefit of a doubt until i had more information on that. perhaps it was a rickity cage that was barely put together, and the dog was going nuts and the guy that shot it thought it was going to break out. or, maybe there was no danger of that happening at all. i dont know, but it sure doesnt sound good at this point. the fact that it was a pitbull makes me want to give the officers even more benefit of a doubt.

To me it seems police these days whether local, state or federal are actually trying to induce incidents where they can show citizens just how powerful and important they are.

There is no valid excuse in my opinion to go busting down the door of someone's home in the dark when folks are likely asleep. If their warrant is valid and it's not violent offenders known to be armed and known to have used guns on folks when why the helll not wait for daylight? Walk up to the door in daylight and announce who you are. Surround the house if you expect someone to run but don't go busting down doors at night when folks are asleep or getting ready to be.

The only reason I can see to do that is they are hoping to get to shoot someone. I know it's not all LEOs and I'm sure there are still some good LEOs out there who see their job as "to protect and serve" but the new breed of cops these days have no desire to protect or to serve but merely to run roughshod over as many folks as they can. They are on a power trip and need their ego boost each day.

the pit was in a cage NICE real nice what kind of a threat is that ? someone would have to be a real chicken **** to shoot a dog in its cage. i wish the dip**** that shot the dog in its cage could be put in a cage and the pets owner gets to hold the tazzer (pray for new deracells)

i geuss this just hits me wrong as i had a dog that was shot by the dog warden on private property while she was tied to her dog house. the coller was removed and laid on top of the dog house. would have loved my chance for a lil tazzeren rw

I agree with GB. No need for the storm trooper tactics for a non violent grass dealer. Like someone else said his kid is going to grow up with lots of love and respect for cops after they bust into his home in the middle of the night, tazer his old man and shoot his dogs.

I firmly believe it is all part of our new form of socialist government's plan to control the populous threw fear and deception.

What's the deal on that?! I hope you owned the piece of crap warden who shot your dog while tied up on private property. The county would be in for a big law suite and public apology if they did that to my dog. Why did he shoot your dog anyway?

well there is a little more to it
she was a 80% wolf hybrid and she had a piece of a deers leg. the warden shot her for running deer.
she must have been real smart to tie herself back up when she was done running the deer.
i gave her the leg off the deer i had shot and the warden tried to take it from her.the dog growled so she was shot. i did go to a layer, being it was against the state of mi. and considered to be mini tort i could get up to $400 if i sued the state the layer wanted $500 to start the suit. i could only recover $400 spend $100 to make my point?
i thought about revenge and it all some how was not a good idea.
i do still send the warden cute lil pics of puppys that say in side. how happy and loved they were untail i met you and you killed me

i just hope that the warden will someday have a conchance and...... well u know she was part of my family and is still missed. rw

To Greybeard's point, serving a search warrant in that manner would entail additional risk to the LEO's. You go kicking down someone's door, that's a good way to get shot yourself, LEO or not. And how could you blame a homeowner who was simply prepared to defend his home?
