Fruit tree blossoms and now its snowing
« on: May 11, 2010, 06:16:43 AM »
Olly, a fine mess we're in.... ;D Oh the plum trees and peach tree put out a bunch of lovely blossoms, and now its snowing big honkin flakes. Its not like it was warm enough for the bees to pollinate anyways, but this freaky ongoing weather... Oh well. The apple tree is just budding leaves, so maybe some apples this year. Last year was a super producing year. Next weeks forecast is for the sunny 70's. Maybe can plant.
I hate to sound like a broken record. Hope all those wonderful orchards in Eastern Utah are faring OK.

I covered my trees with tarps, and through 3 days of snow, the blossoms hung on. Yesterday was 68 degrees, and the honey bees were out in force pollinating my blossoms, whooHoo!  :o ;D

A few years back we had a cold snap right at bloom time. Had nothing that year. Also got the orchard a few miles away. Last year was a bumper crop due to the fruitless year. Hope everything works out well for you. If not next year will most likely be very good.
