Recoil Reducer!  Recoil Reducer!  If you're a whimp, crawl back in the corner with me.  Seriously, They're going into a SB2 frame.  I'd think they should be the same as any Handi stock bolt.....Guys, I forget....3/8 X 4? or 3.5?  Tim, shut up, I know it's in the FAQs :-*  Aint got time to go there.

Well, actually it isn't yet Pete, unless it takes the same bolt as the laminated thumbholes which is a 2" long 3/8"-24 button head socket cap screw. Mac posted the H&R part number and cost, but that's it, I don't think he's ever seen a laminated thumbhole stock, so he might not know if it's the same or not. But if'n it were mine, I'd try a 2" hex head cap screw for length, the two stocks appear to have close to the same dimension in the grip.  ;)

Thanks Tim, Will give that a try. Now to figure out how to stuff the 7/8 x 5" reducer into that stock i,ll  be happy
I know that it worked in wood camo stock. Tolerable 3" 12ga turkey load & I ain't no recoil wimp Pete. 1 bird down
& 1 tag to go. I guess a little foam will work? By the way she is on a SB2 frame.  Fred

Place it all the way forward in line with the barrel if you can, then stuff foam in tight to keep it from moving. I stuff foam packing inside the synthetic stocks to help deaden the hollow sound as much as I can, foam peanuts would work too, but sheets and blocks would work best. I've filled stocks with expanding foam before that I didn't need access to a stock bolt on, just don't use too much, it will build up pressure and warp the recoil pad, don't ask how I know!! ::)

Congrats of the bird and best of luck on the next one, that's where I'm at, 1 down, 2 and 3 to go.  ;)

That 2" bolt (if that is what it takes) is a pain to buy locally. Ace sells some that are about a 1/2" longer.

Regarding spray in foam...I think they make an expanding foam that has very low/no pressure now. Worth asking at the building center anyway. Then dont err by using too much! Do a test spray in a small plastic jar about the size of the stock to see just how much to use and get complete fill on expansion.

Never done that before myself, not having a synthetic stock yet (but I want one!).  An idea maybe, but couldn't you just press in a hollow tube like in the middle of a paper towel roll, spray in the foam, holding it in place until it mostly sets.  Of course too much foam would crush it, so you would have to be careful there.  Seems a way to get access to the stock bolt and still deaden the sound nicely.  A plastic tube would be better and if I find one someplace, I'll hang on to it for just such a project.  44 Man

A lot of machine shop tooling comes in clear light-walled tubing with slip on flexible plastic caps. Stop at any shop and ask, they usually throw them away. Maybe they could save them all for you, they have lots of uses.

Before I sent mine off to Wayne..I stopped at Auto Zone..picked up one of their $15.00 fiberglass resin kits and filled my stock up with it. It used 14 oz of the material..(I used a measuring cup of my wifes to test fill it with water first) then mixed up the 2 parts and poured it in very carefully making sure to stay below the recoil pad screw holes. It didn't weigh enough for me..so I dropped in 14 1 oz. 12 gauge casted slugs I had laying around..I was a little worried since this took about 3 hours to cure..the temp was in the 50s that day..and the stock got exceedingly hot from the resin curing.Nothing warped on it and it firmed up nice and solid with a very solid feel to the stock. As soon as it had cooled back down..I packaged it up and sent it on to him,so I didn't get any pictures of how it turned out with the resin cause I was rushing to get it done and packaged back up to ship.. Can't wait till Wayne gets it all completed and I have it back home.I'll post lots of pictures when it gets here..supposed to be this month sometime..

FWIW, I have an old (1923, 30-06) target rifle that had lead shot pored in a cavity and it appears to have been mixed with an 'Elmer's type glue. It has held up well over time.
