OK, here's the lowdown, according to the Dept. of the Army's tech manual, TM 43-0001-27, issue date, June 1981. .45 ball, velocity is 888fps. + or - 25fps at 5ft from the muzzle. Load is 5gr. of 7970,(try and find that one), with a 230gr projectile. chamber pressure is 19,000psi. No info on primer, just says percussion.
After 20+ years at Camp Perry, never heard of anyone getting checked, mainly because you don't really get any advantage of hot rodding that caliber. Keep it in the 850 to 900 fps and you'll do just fine. gypsyman
