Ruger 9mm Carbine
« on: May 13, 2010, 05:47:41 AM »
Guys

I may have an opportunity to trade into a Ruger Camp 9 Carbine. It has a wood stock and is in good shape. It is fairly accurate ~1.5" @ 50yards. What do you think about them? It would be just for target plinking.

Ruger's never came with a wood stock----sounds like you're looking at a Marlin gun.

Next thing is what are you looking to trade for it---keep in mind that Marlin CC's went for $250 new in the '80's.

The Marlin guns ran VERY dirty and needed cleaning in as few as 50 to 100 rounds.

I'm not so sure of the longevity or quality of Marlin's Camp carbines. i do know they use a S&W pistol magazine. So, as a light-duty plinkier, you're not going to get hurt too badly.

Now then, Ruger's defunct Police Carbine, in either 9mm or .40, ought to last you nearly a lifetime. In 9mm, it's like shooting a 10/22. A real pussycat.
