They better think twice!
« on: May 14, 2010, 06:53:59 AM »
A high-school buddy of mine was killed in Afghanistan last week.  Kyle Comfort was and always has been a hero to all who knew him.  He was the quiet shy nice guy type, but did not hesitate to take on the star football player when he shoved his girlfriend.  It was the talk of the school how the geek took down the king.  He had a habit of that, standing up for others.  It saddens me to hear of his early departure from this world, but his death potentially saved the lives of countless others, and for that I will forever be grateful.  He was on a mission to find and IED factory over there and with his death mission accomplished.

If the sadness over loss of a true American Hero isn't bad enough, we now have Westboro Church threating to come protest his funeral.  Kyle was a good man, and there are a lot of good ole boys around here.  They need to think twice before they show up and do something stupid here!  There are already anti protest rallies and folks pooling bail money together for those who shut them up.  We have LEO saying that they will shoot first and ask questions later.  This is NOT the town to be disrespecting soldiers in!

Sorry for the loss of your friend.  It is people like him that we need more of.
And I understand that he died for the right of these morons to portest, but sometimes the Texas Rule needs to be applied
"He / they needed killin"  for being that stupid as to protest a funeral of a man who fought for their idiot ideas to be heard.
Someone needs to explain that the 1st amendment is the right to say what you want, not for your dumb ass idea to be heard.
There is also common decency and manners that the left forgets unless they want to try to teach us a lesson in what is offensive, but it is only on items that are offensive to them.
How would they like protestors at one of their kids/ parents/ friends Funerals.  At the next Anti smoking Nazi  that passes away, we should hold a Cigar tasting at the church steps.  But we don't we say "we are sorry for your loss even though we disagree on items/ policy / subject
When Ted kennedy Died I was happy and would be ready to Pee on his grave but I would not have done so at the service.  It would have shown my contempt for him, his policies and his hipocritism but I would not want to upset the family after all he was their (father, Uncle, brother) what have you.

Sorry to hear about your loss Heather. My friends son was killed in Iraq several years back and it sure hits a small town deep. The Weatburo bunch knows to avoid the small town country boy crowd as there protesting days would be over. several older vets offered to provide security if these maggots of humanity showed up. As one old boy put it "hey I don't have that long left and they have free health care in prison".

I still think of Brent daily especially now that both my children are in the National Guard and being mobilized to go ro Iraq.

I have to say some people do need killing. I would imagine it would be hard to seat a jury that would convict anyone who killed these Westburo maggots.

Sorry to hear about another brave soldier lost. Just this past Monday, our town laid to rest a soldier who lost his life overseas and the Westboro people were saying they would be here. The Patiot Guard were notified and responded with around 150 people to stand between the family and the protesters. I'm just glad  the cowards from Wesboro decided not to come to Texas that day. From what I have heard of them, they try to provoke you into attacking them and then file a lawsuit against the attackers. That's how they make thier money.
Our thoughts and prayers go to the family.

Your friend gave all.  There is nothing I could say to ease the pain of his family or friends.  One of our boys is headed for mountain training soon, then to the Afghan mountains.  I do not want him to go.  He made it through a tour of Iraq already, I want him not to go, I keep that to myself of course. He volunteered to go earlier than planned.  I am worried a lot more now than before for some reason.  I hope I die before any of my boys do, that's all I wish for.  When he was young he liked wearing military stuff and playing in the woods, playing Army and stuff.  He is gung-ho.  I don't feel so gung-ho right now.

This friend of yours is a hero, sounds to me like he has always been a hero from the start.

I'm hangin Myronman, I have my moments.  There is a whole heap of people on here and everywhere that experience everything I do, what gets me is with so many families out there involved in things like this, millions of people go through day to day life and don't think of all the sacrifice at all, not enough news on it, not enough stories of hero's like this, massive amounts of people who live here just want something for themselves and don't think about all the solders and their families or anything at all.  Many people in this country are in a dream world and none of this is real to them.  Our leaders are even numb and silent when people protest the war at the worst possible places and at the worst possible times, during a time when families need to be left alone.  The world's gone crazy.

jimster, my youngest was with the 82nd Airborne. Two tours Iraq, one Afghanistan. You never get used to it. He too was wound up on testosterone. He was a Sgt. and as hard as the hinges of hell. I am glad he is finally out of the service, and hope he never has to go back. Our children are supposed to out live us. They haven't seen enough, or they would never have agreed to fight the politicians war, and by his rules.

i will add your son to my list of things i pray for each day.   my kids are not old enough to serve, but one day will be.   my oldest is almost 9, but this has been going on from the time i brought him home from the hospital and there still is no end in sight.  i have worried about this from day one.  another 9 years and he will be of that age.  hopefully him and his brother will listen to me, but i know how young men are.  i honestly try to hide my service from them so they dont feel like they need to do it to impress me.   i am petrafied at what could be; i am a father so i understand your concerns as they are the same ones i have.

i have long said that this country as it is now does not deserve our heros.  more than half the morons walking around now dont even know there is a war going on, or have any concept whatsoever what our servicemen do for us.  if i had my way, you would have to have served in order to vote.   .....i am getting started here and that wasnt my intention... let me know if i can do anything to help.  God bless your family and your son.

If I am not mistaken this is the same group that started the God hates fags thing. I have heard a couple interviews with a woman that is a leader in that church and let me tell you see is way out there. I think that whole group needs shot for protesting our soldiers funerals. >:Dale

Feelings and thoughts.
Feelings are introspective and really don't produce any productive change.
Be carefulof where thoughts come from and who is offering them.
Prayer is a powerful tool--a real powerful tool.
Fear is the cause of most of these thoughts--and they must be dealt with. They can be delt with by prayer.
Nothing will make the fear fade but knowing that all is in the hands of God makes it bearable.
This, of course, is from a stoic personality.
I will put your son on the prayer list and pray after this is posted.
Blessings
TEXAS, by GOD

If one of those type protests were to happen at one of my family members funeral I don't think I could stand by and take it. As billy said  "Hey, I don't have that long left and they have free health care in prison". No one has the right to disrupt something as sacred and private as a funeral, no matter what you think of them or their cause.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I look at them as a fool pokin a bad dog thru the fence with a stick. Eventually a father, or a brother, or an uncle, or a cousin, at the funeral of the soldier, will walk up to the leader of such a group, and head shoot him in front of everyone. Then instead of gettin his point across, the media will howl, and the group will get armed guards to protect them against family members of fallen soldiers.
I look at today's society, and I shake my head. When I was growin up in this part of Texas, if a guy got a girl pregnant, there was usually an ass kickin administered either by the father or the brother, followed by a wedding. You'd be surprised how many of them are still married after all these years. Call a may a liar? Better hang on, there's gonna be a fight, if he don't get killed. Insult a woman, or talk nasty infront of them. Nother ass kickin comin right up. And it didn't matter if she was kin folks, or a stranger. You just didn't do that in front of women. Now a days, young boys, AND THEIR FATHERS, talk that way in front of their mothers. :(
I have pretty much given up on most of America. I'm just tryin to do what's right in my own little part of the world.
I can't imagine though, allowing that bunch of jackasses to protest one of my son's funerals, and livin to tell about it. I don't think it's in me to allow that. I thank God that both are out of the service now.

All this reminds me of a black man rapin a white woman in a cotton field down here back in 1930. They locked him up in the court house jail, and over two thousand men surrounded the jail wantin the man. They called Frank Hamer the Texas Ranger that killed Bonnie and Clyde in from Dallas. He told that crowd and I quote: You try to take this prisoner and there will be some cheap funerals in Sherman Texas tomorrow. Well, they took ole Frank's gun, and stormed the Court House. Half the crowd met the National Guard at Choctaw Creek south of town and told them to stay oout of it. They wisely did, and camped out on the creek for two days.
The prisoner was by then, locked in the records safe, so they ended up burnin the whole Courthouse gettin him out, but they did. Course he was a little dead, and we don't have many records before 1930 left.
Now I'm not sayin any of this is right in what they done. What I'm sayin is men used to be a lot less talkin, and a lot more action when it came to right and wrong.
I guess that's my problem. If a politician lies to me once, I ain't votin for him no more, and I don't care who's runnin against him. But that's another story.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

Dee,

We were raised in different states, but it sounds like we had the same environment.

I can't imagine my Daddy or Grandpa letting a thing like that stand.  None of that old bunch tolerated much.  And no one ran over them without a killin' on one side or the other.

Heather, may God bless your friend, as he made the ultimate sacrifice. Pray for his family.
If, it looks like those brain dead idiots from the Westboro church are going to make an appearance, make a call to your local chapter of the Vietnam Vets motorcycle club. I can gaurantee, they will not get within 500 yds of the service's, and, if the local law enforcement doesn't get in the way, they have a good possibility of getting an attitude adjustment thearapy treatment, for free. gypsyman

Sadly, though it might have been true (and I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt), it wasn't all that uncommon for a cheating wife back in those days if caught with her pants down to say a black man raped her rather than the truth (often that she was willing cheating with another man - be he black or white).  The ensuing chaos and lynch mobs ensured that the truth never came out either way.

I know of at least one local case where a woman (she was actually the wife of one of my dad's cousins) did EXACTLY this, back in the 1970's.  A posse (sadly, including my grandfather) gathered up and was tearing all around the area.  Shooting buckshot into people's doors and stuff trying to find the culprit.  Thankfully, before anyone was killed she fessed up and admitted that was hadn't been raped at all, but rather was out messing around with another man.

If you've never seen the movie "Rosewood", I suggest you do.  It details a prime example of this sort of thing.  The classic novel "To Kill a Mocking Bird" is another prime example.

That's the reality of lynch mobs. The justice system exists for a reason.

If that church discusses it with the media in your area, they are coming.
if they don't, they will not be there. They are looking for media hype,
without it, they will stay home.

You know, there is a law that in basis states that if a church gets heavily involved in political causes they can lose their tax exemt status.  I'll have to research that and find what it says exactly.
