Hogue monogrip for Ruger SBH?
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:21:31 AM »
I have smallish hands, being 5'6" tall and all. I have searched and found posts that people with larger hands have found these grips to be a great help to them.  Me having smaller hands, would they be too large for me?

Thanks,
Buckhammer

Oh, by the way I have a Browning Buckmark with URX grips(rubber/finger grooves) and they are a perfect fit. Dont know if this helps or not but something to judge by. Also a Glock 45 and 10mm are too wide for me.

I too have been afflicted with little hands.  I bought and put a Hogue monogrip on my Blackhawk, it didn't stay long. I currently have a Pacmayer(sp) and it fits my hand more better.  The black rubber/plastic grip that came on the Blackhawk is abismal and Ruger ought to be beat rather badly for putting it on anything.

I also have a Buckmark Camper URX and the Hogue type grip is perfect for me.  My 1911s all have the Hogue rubber grip with the finger grooves and I like them that way, they work.

My hands are not all that large and I really like the Houge Monogrip on my SBH 44 mag. Shooting it with the factory woods was no where near as comfortable

I have big hands and put the hogue grips on my GP100 and I love them. I thought the wood/rubber grips were good but the hogues are awesome. FYI there are two different set of hogues, I put the smaller one on my gun. The other grip is thicker.

I have a Hogue monogrip on a Blackhawk 41mag and I think it is great, but I have large hands.  I don't think it would be comfortable for someone with smaller hands, as this grip fills my hand pretty full.

You got me interested in the Hogue monogrips for my Super Blackhawk as well. Do they have the finger grooves? . I really need to find me a set if they do. They would really help and be alot more comfortable than the wood grips. I have a set of Hogue rubber grips on my Single Six and they are great.

I too was blessed w/small hands. If they were big, I would have been in more trouble.

I put the Hogues on the SBH and enjoyed them so much that I bought two more sets to fit to my late model BFRs.

Both, the Packy's and Uncle Mike fails to peg my fun meter. To each his own.

I have had my Ruger.44 SBH since the New Model came out (1973?)  I have med/lg hands and found the factory grips too small. I now have a set of Herrett Shooting Stars (exotic wood w. finger grooves) and  set of Pachmeyer rubber grips.  I love the Pachmeyers, they must have 30 yrs on the gun now!  I carry it in a shoulder holster under my jacket hunting and have killed 5-6 deer with it.  Recoil is not a problem.  Historical Note:  I know a little about SBHs and factory grip recoil. I was stationed in Libya 0n 1970-71 when Khadfi kicked us out.  Gun Club members had to ship their guns home, but no ammo.  I had to shoot 300+ rounds of factory .44 mag in one range session!  When we finished, there were lots of us in the same boat, I couldn't close my right hand around a cold beer for 2-3 days! First thing I did back in country was look for a better SBH grip!  Get some Pachmeyers- they work!
