I got to go to the range today. I took my .454, but only had some heavy .45 Colt loads to shoot from it, as I didn't want to shoot the .454 loads. A young 20 something lad came up and saw my Encore and asked if he could shoot it. As he was trying to look through the scope I could see that he wasn't real familiar with a scoped pistol, and was getting kinda close to the scope. I told him he'd be better served a bit farther back, as the pistol scope wasn't like a rifle scope, and the thing may jump back when it recoils and bite him. He mumbled something, hunkered down and pulled the trigger.
To his credit, he didn't drop the pistol, and his shades stayed on, but there was red stuff pouring from a crescent shaped cut above his eyebrow...
He didn't want to shoot it a second time. I'm just glad I hadn't loaded a .454 round in the pistol.
