FFG Fur Fish Game Magazine

FFG Fur Fish Game Magazine

I first read this magazine back in the mid-80’s. I have since gathered, collected, and run-down almost every issue that was printed since I was born back in the early 60’s. Simply put, this is an amazing monthly publication.

The primary focus of the magazine is trapping. But there is so much more contained in the pages of this fine product. It is down home and woodsy, with a content that is usable and not over-done. For a few weeks each summer I take a decade and read each issue cover to cover, which means that I find the content timeless.

It has something to offer to everyone, be it camping, fishing, general shooting, hunting and of course Trapping…and as for trapping, I have gotten more usable ideas and suggestions out of this magazine than several books that I have purchased over the years.

Pick up an issue. You will be pleasantly surprised…I highly recommend it.

It's ok but not as good as Backwoodsman.  I do read FFG at Books-A-Million but I rarely buy it.

I 1st subscribed in about 1992 or 93...but since then I have acquired most every issue going back to the early 60's...to me its a timeless publication, packed with good solid information, and stories on things that interest me. But the thing that realy hits home for me is that almost every issue has my interest and the content is well written and professionally presented.

I am of a like mind. I used to subscribe to several magazines, but times change and I had to make choices.

FFG is one of those choices 8)

+1. These are the only two outdoor magazines out there worth reading anymore IMO.

About 2 weeks ago I placed an order for a 1 year subscription to FFG for my son. He has develpoed an interest in trapping. I have purchased this mag occasionally over the years. It is a great magazine. Another good one is Trappers Post. I don't have a subcription but I do occasionally order a back issue online.

So I was in Walmart this last weekend buying shells for Dove Season and I wanted to get a copy of the Backwoodsman so I'd have something to read in the evenings. I could find FFG, but no Backwoodsman magazine...there wasn't even a spot for it.

I wonder what's up with that... ;)

streak,

I know what you mean. Its amazing how many times I've walked into Walmart looking for an item only to find out that they've moved it clean across the store...then the next time I'm in the store, its back where it was to begin with.

But the thing that shocked me was that there wasn't even a spot for Backwoodsman... :o

Rock Home Isle, normaly Wallyworld stocks the Backwoodsman, which I like to read especially on some of my trips. Another place that usually carries the magazine is Gander Mtn., although their service is really getting lousy here in Aurora, CO. You might want to speak to one of the managers at Wal Mart and voice your concern about not having the Backwoodsman on the shelf. Hope you have better luck than I normaly do! >:(  The last item I inquired about the manager said that they did not stock this particular item. I told him I beg to differ that I had been buying this item at this store for the past 8-9 years. He then tells me that well they only stock what corporate ships to them. Give me a break!!
The following week I went down to Shreveport,LA. and dropped in at the local Wal Mart and there was the item on their shelves. Well six months later once again the item reappears at my Wal Mart here in Aurora. I know that they did not have a shortage of this item at any time. I found it during the time it was vacant here in Aurora at other Wal Mart stores in Texas and Oklahoma.
Oh well!Enough ranting!!
