Exotic 10/22 stocks
« on: May 17, 2010, 01:31:22 PM »
I have seen a lot of beautiful custom stocks for the 10/22. Exotic woods with thumbhole stocks (Fajen is a name I see a lot). Unfortunately it seems they are all intended for 10/22's that have also upgraded to the .920 sized bull barrels. Does anyone make those really sexy stocks for the standard 10/22 with the thin barrel?

Google Boyd's Gunstocks ( I don't know how to post a link ???). They show a bunch of different 10/22 stocks and each one is listed as "any barrel channel" which I guess means they will cut the channel you want.

Several of the sponsors, over on www.rimfirecentral.com are custom stockmakers. so you might want to actually contact one of them with your particular wants, ILO depending upon spec listings.

Here's just one, with a multitude of stocks available from various sources:

Good Christian folks that are square dealers. BTW I am running one with a sporter weight 28". It is in a bull barrel stock. Shoots like a champ and is near silent with sub sonic rounds. The chamber side fits the bull barrel profile. Of coarse it tapers towards the muzzle end.

Good luck

Thanks for the tip, RB. Since I hardly ever post something like that I never bothered to learn how.

The sporter profile bbls will still work with the stocks with barrel channels cut for the .920 barrels.  Free floated.  :)

BlkHawk, thanks
I've often wondered about that. It doesn't look weird or out of place? Ugly with a big gap?

I put one on a savage 93r17 that was cut for a bull barrel and i've got a standard barrel in it and  I thought it would be a big gap but is is hardly noticeable.

Depends I guess.  You going for pretty or performance?   With the sporter profile it will likely look odd.  Contact Wenig or another manufacturer for a sporter channel "exotic".  Word of warning...have not heard much positive about Richards Microfit.

Not a very good pic taker. The barrel is just free floated. The only big gap is at the end. I have a u shaped wedge under the swivel stud that easily doubles the gap. Hogue OM with sporter profile barrel.

Was surprised the gap was not larger when I swapped from the bull.
