a project i took in...
« on: May 18, 2010, 09:09:46 AM »
picked up this poor ol DW 44 mag in a trade not too long ago. bluing was horrible. grips were ugly, but it shot great! so i decided to keep it as a pet project.

took it down to a buddy of mine who is getting into gun coatings, and let him put the teflon treatment to it.

here you can see the horrible finish. that isnt light reflecting on the barrel. the bluing was actually gone. :o

here is how she looked when i picked her up. grips went on later that night. ;D

finished product. i think it is MUCH better...

cant wait to get her to the range!!  what other mods are out there for these? it is a hunting gun. i would say trigger job, but man this thing is sweet as it is! maybe a scope or better sights... thats about all i think it needs. maybe an 8" barrel down the road but im diggin this setup for now!

Millett makes rear sights that are an improvement. Main thing you will need will be lots of ammo!

well i traded it for a Ruger LCR in .38 spl. it is +p rated and has crimson trace grips on it. planning to sell that one and buy me another DW 44 mag with heavy barrel. not alot of interest in the DW locally. i guess the secret isnt out about them yet. ;D
