Cross draw in a flap holster. I carry it that way only so my rifle won't keep hitting it, as I carry my rifle in my right hand.

Same reason I prefer the cross draw; also works if you carry the rifle slung.

Crossdraw in a flap holster, to avoid banging the rifle or shotgun. I have a Buck knive holder riveted to the holster.

I like the strong side hip also, but I've been experimenting with IWB too. The IWB is still incredibly handy, out of sight,& won't bump against every rock, your rifle, & tree in the forrest.

My sidearm is usually a SRH Alaskan it rides in a leather cross draw when I'm carrying a rifle cause like someone else said it hits my rifle on the strong side. It rides strong side if my primary is my scoped 7.5" SRH. Both are .454's.

I carry mine in a WalMart sack. It's dual purpose. If I kill anything, I can put it in the sack with my revolver if isn't too big. ;D

Seriously, if I am wearin overalls, camo of course, I carry it in inside the waistband clipped to the bib next to the hip buttons. Pants, I carry it in a holster and gun belt. This is for the 686. If I'm carryin my 60, I can carry it the first way mentioned or in a hip pocket.

I carry the SBH or the GP100 on the hip strongside. The scoped 454 Super Redhawk in the backpack until I get where I'm going. If you leave the rifle in the safe it won't bump your revolver!

Yeah but if you carry weak side it doesn't bump it either, plus you have a rifle.

Strongside Hip carry.

Daman
+1 most of the time.
I do have a couple of the double duty holsters that will strong side carry or cross draw.
the cross draw is easier carry if we are going to be in and out of the truck all day road hunting.

I usually carry storng side and if I have a rifle with me I sling it on my left arm with the barrel down.  I find it an easier way to get the rifle back in my hand after glassing, drinking, or what ever I need 2 hands for.

If its 6 inches or less, strong side hip.  If its bigger, across the chest rig, or with a sling mounted to the gun.  If I am hunting, it is almost always in my hand.  I am not a big fan of cross draw holsters, but I have a nylon cross draw that seems to do pretty good mounted on the support belt of the backpack I am usually carrying when I hunt.  Ugly as he**, but I have a plastic Fobus type paddle holster that fits my 4 inch S&W 629 that I like a lot.  Weatherproof, protects the gun, easy on and off.  I would like to find one for my 4 5/8 Super Blackhawk.

Strong side if only carrying a handgun. Cross draw if I have a rifle. Bandolier holster for my scoped handguns. I used to only carry a handgun until the day I came across a wounded doe and couldn't finisher her and she got away. I was not the one that wounded her. It was a "never again" situation.

I hunt with a Ruger SRH with a sling mount. I use the sling to get up the tree stand and hang it from it. Still hunting I take the sling off and carry the gun in my hand.

When I'm rifle hunting, any handgun I'm also carrying rides in my haversack. If it happens to be a NAA Mini, it rides in a pocket.

When I'm handgun hunting, the hunting gun is held in my hands, poised for any possible shot; but rides otherwise in a cross-chest bandolier w/flap (usually a Bianchi Ranger H.U.S.H.).

I prefer a Blackhawk tactical holster that carrys my handgun on my right thigh, which puts it at my fingertips. 8) This position of carry keeps it away from any longarm weapon that I carry.

Since I have a rather protruding mid section I have a difficult time with a cross draw holster and I tend to carry a rifle/shotgun on both sides depending on which is more comfortable at the time. With this said, I use a Small Of The Back Galco holster for either my SP-101 or one of my S&W J Frames whenever I choose to carry a handgun in the field and/or for concealed carry. I have trained myself to instinctively reach behind my back to draw the weapon in any given situation that may arise be it wearing heavy winter or summer clothing.
