I just picked up the most beautiful example of a sporterized military rifle for $300-doesn't look like it was ever even fired.I don't know what company sportered it but they did a beautiful job, gorgeous wood.Barrel is parkerized.I'll probably use the original peep sight[big ghost ring],but I''ll have to install a fiber optic front sight because I can't use open sights otherwise.
The 303 Brit is to Canadian hunters what the 30-06 is to the Americans-and more big game has fallen to the 303 Enfield than any other cartridge, and while surplus ammo has dried up, regular ammunition is readily available[even in Wallmart]My first rifle was a full wood 303 enfield rifle, you could buy them in sears mailorder catalogue back then[1961]for about $8 to $10
The fact this is US made is a bit of history, they were made for the Brits ,but manufactured in the US.Probably one of the finest bolt action battle rifles ever made-and I think the rapid fire record was 38 shots in 2 minutes all hitting a 12'' ring at 200 yards
