Can't forget the OM SBH cut to 5.5, Bowen target rear sight, patridge front, Fishpaw Dall Sheep horn grips, all the action, trigger, throat and forcing cone work you might expect... By Alan Harton... ;D

I guess I am a different kind of guy but my ultimate SA revolver is a Remington New Model Army model of 1863.  It does everything I want a SA revolver to do and I have no ammo to reload when I get home from a days shooting.

Well, I guess I have to show my favorite 'woods carry' 'ultimate' gun at present (not counting the Colt project gun).  A 5" Mag-na-port custom, built on a 'pre-warning' new model Super Blackhawk.  Barrel cut to 5", ported, c-more front sight blade, Millet rear sight, blued steel ejector housing, fluted cylinder, lightwt satin nickled grip frame, deep blued and polished, and gold plated hammer, trigger, and pins.  She's a beauty and shoots like it too!  44 Man

One of each - A Dragoon, a Colt, and Bisley type grip frame.  The Colt style handles and points best, the Bisley style best handles recoil.

Finally got it back from Ben Forkin.  Old Model Black Hawk re-chambered to .44 Special, with 3 5/8" barrel, patridge front and Bowen rear sights (both white dot), and all slicked up.  Thought about pretty grips, but I expect to beat the heck outta this thing, so maybe - when or if I lose interest in shooting it.

Truth is, this was my "Ultimate" SA revolver about two years back.  Being as this came in yesterday, I'm not up for thinking about any other ultimate just yet.

-Don

P.S.  Finished the holster from that leather in the picture above and thinned and refinished the grips:

Well, that's a good question...pretty much depends on what day it is in some respects...

Could be this...

Or maybe this...

Or maybe these...

Or...

Or maybe its something else, but that's enough for now.

I love my Ruger Bisley Blackhawk - .45colt/.45acp convertible 5 1/2" Stainless - it does everything I ask it to do.
..... however, IF I won the lottery -  I would be ordering 2 new Single Action revolvers - from John & Dustin Linebaugh - a 5 shot Ruger Bisley .45colt AND a 5 shot Ruger Bisley in .475 Linebaugh - both in 5 1/2" barrels with adjustable sights - and all the Linebaugh Magic...those would be the Ultimate !!

I think everyone (guys or gals) should have at least one "custom gun", whatever that may be to them, in their lifetime..I like Ruger handguns, have several. The one I would like to "customize" would be my stainless 4 5/8 Bisley Vaquero. It already has an action job done by Bob Munden, Wolfe springs, the cyls have been bored and the gun firelapped. It does shoot very well as is. BUT...I think having H. Bowen or J Stroh install a set of adjustable sights on it and well, just work whatever majic they want on it.   Don't need or want a custom 5 shooter, the Ruger is strong enough as is to shoot the heaviest loads I want to shoot.  But what a packin' pistol that would be for hiking or horseback in my country..

Sure are some mighty fine looking revolvers attached to this thread.  All I know is it costs a lot to have a little "magic" performed by some of the better known pistolsmiths in our country.  The stainless Seville is a 500L Max with the magic performed by Dave Clements while the Blackhawk magic was performed by Bowen in 475L.  Of the two, the Seville is the shooter while the Blackhawk is the "looker".

As much as I love my RSB, 44 Mag, 7 1/2" barrel, my fav would be my Ruger Super Single Six.  22 LR and 22 Mag in one gun.

The "Ultimate" SA revolver would be just about any of them in this thread.

I would love to have a .32 convertible on a Ruger small frame flat top. Case colored frame. Blued round butt Bisley grip frame like Lloyd's.  Sanbar stag grips or maybe ivory or fancy wood.  Someting done with the sights.  The whole package worked over by one of the masters.
Once that is done than a .45, .44, .22, .41 before working up to the even bigger bores.  Oh well, at least I can dream.
