Rifle deer hunting in Cortland County
« on: May 19, 2010, 05:22:26 PM »
Got a letter from Senator Jim Seward In which stated he has submitted  a bill (A.10765) in the Assembly and the Environmental Conservation Committee in regard to using rifles for deer hunting in Cortland County. He also stated that he was confident that the change will be in place for the Fall 2010 deer season. I along with many others are hoping that he is right. Keep you fingers crossed guys. It looks like we might be able to put away our slug guns and start sighting-in our rifles. Deer slugs were getting too expensive anyway.

Good to know - thanks!

You're right but that one slug is getting more expensive by the year. Not to say that factory rifle shells aren't also, but most rifle shooters reload their own which is cheaper and there is greater satisfaction out of getting a deer with a shell that you have reloaded. You can't get that same satisfaction with a factory deer slug.
