Try regular spring type rat traps.  Bet they would work.  Sort of like running a trap line.  Try peanut butter for bait.  Quick story - Years ago my wife and I were on our honeymoon in late Sept. up in Maine.  We rented a house boat for a week on Moose Head Lake.  Ran short on gas, and found a "country" marina.  Could not find anyone around, so we walked over to a couple of old, run down cabins.  We were almost to the steps of one when I stopped, and thought "Holy Crap"!  There was an old guy sitting inside the screened in porch, and I swear he had at least 25 chipmunks on him.  He was covered.  At first I thought he was dead, and they were eating him.  Then the wife seen him, and she screamed.  Then he moved, and I realized he was alive.  I think he was hand feeding them.  Freaked me out, and that's hard to do.  He was covered with them.  We just turned around and left.  Got our gas a little further down the lake.

I use a Benjamin 397 with a Swift Reliant 4x pistol scope mounted out in a scout position so I can pump it easier.
27 chipmunk notches in the stock. mostly head shots at about 20 yards.

if you can use a 22L, try sub-sonics.
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

Funny you would say that. When I was stationed at NAS Brunswick in Maine. I took a trip down to Biddeford to a gun shop to see about buying a new SIG. The old guy that lived next to his gunshop had a pet chipmunk named "Chippy" (fitting I guess). He said he just came in the house one day and never left. He used to put peanuts in his shirt pocket and Chippy would crawl up his leg and body and get the peanuts out of his pocket. He said it was even house trained but I don't know about that.

22 shorts work good and are fairly quiet. I'm waiting for a Handi made in 22 mag or Lr.  over 410 Superlite with 20" barrel for Chippys and other Squirrels. Like the old Savage O.U.s but Handier. That way if they're running a 2 1/2" 410 would put them down.

If Tim would put in a request they may start production this year ;)

I'll bet D-Con in the right places will take care of them.

My Beagle hunts chippys down by my shed. I wouldn't want her to find D-Con :'(
I put some in my shed for mice and have to be careful not to have the door open when she's out.

Shooting them is a lot more fun ;D

I've always thought there would be a market for a 17 or 20 cal short or cb type cartridge. I'd like one 8) For now I just load down 30gr Hornets in my 10" Contender or rifles ;)
