want to know about a 12ga rifled barrel
« on: May 20, 2010, 05:07:44 PM »
I would like to know what kind of barrels I can get that are rifled and 12ga that I can put on my youth 20ga pardner if I get a 12ga barrel I am going to get a slip on recoil pad to make it fit better with a longer barrel. Or even if a 20ga is a little better cause of speed or something but I also want to know prices all I want is the barrel and it needs rifled

If you get a 12ga barrel, you really must get a recoil pad. I use a slip on from Walmart that cost 20 dollars. Its a rebadged limb saver. The 12ga is all but unusable with slugs or 3" shells without it. Actually, let me modify that statment,it IS unusable without it. It gave me a bruise the size of a dinner plate.

You can get a limbsaver (rebranded as a Winchester) at Walmart for 20 bucks.

I do have to admit,my description there was not quite accurate as to the degree of the recoil. Its doesn't do it justice. I shot a few 3" shells and it hurt quite a bit but of course,I tried to tough it out. Then I shot one and felt a sharp pain INSIDE my shoulder. It was bad enough that I was worried I had done some permanent damage. I stopped shooting for the day and got the recoil pad. Now its fine. No more bruising and no more tearing stabbing pain in my shoulder.

well glad to hear your shoulder wasn't badly damaged but I just learned my gun cannot take 12ga barrels so I am gonna look into a 20ga rifled barrel

Thats interersting. My understanding was that any SB1 frame could take any one of the shotgun barrels except for the 10ga. Does anyone else know any more about this?

The 12ga Ultra Slug Hunter barrel uses the same frame as the 10ga.
