Draw results
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:21:13 PM »
Elk draw results came out yesterday, about 10 days earlier than expected. Sheep, goat, and bear came out a few days ago. Now just waiting on deer.

Now I have a good reason to check the mailbox. Thanks for the heads up.

You will have to check the DOW website. I don't think the results have been snail mailed yet.

Ooh, ooh I won!  Maybe I need to play 500 lotto numbers so I can afford the hunt! Again thanks for links and info.

Our group drew tags and unfortunately got ourselves into a pickle.  We were hoping actually expecting for muzzleloader elk and drew archery as a second choice.  Not a big deal except that we are going to pull muzzleloader deer....  We are going near Gunnison and unfortunately they changed the tag structure (after app deadline) and reduced the number of permits for archery and muzzleloaders in that area.  Not sure what the hell to do, I can refuse the deer tag and either loose my points (5) or my money.  Or I guess I could bring both weapons, what a pain in the ass... The outfitter we are going with is taking us on horse to a drop camp and I was thinking about renting a horse from him for the week.  I guess that would make it a little easier.  Does anyone know if it's legal to carry both a bow and ml.  Actually I wouldn't carry both anyway but would have both on the horse.

Thanks for the reminder.  We drew 4 cows and a bull for muzzleloader season.  Oh, and Buckskin. we have been in your shoes.  When we have archery and ML tags we try to fill our archery tags before the ML season opens, then pick up the rifles to finish the hunt.  Carrying both would be a pain where we hunt.  You can also hunt in pairs with one carrying the bow and the other the ML.
good luck

I have been there as well. I live here and am propetually amazed at how challenging it can be. I didnt get what I wanted either in the draw. My only advice is to make the best of it since you spent the 5 preference points. I like hunting in colorado, but it makes me appreciate the out of state hunting I do in oklahoma, you buy a deer tag and hunt anywhere you want in the whole state, providing it is open for hunting and not private.
I keep telling family members that want to hunt for elk to try wyoming, there's more public land for access and less people. SOme real good animals too. I hear from alot of out of state hunters that colorado is too crowded, I guess I am just used to it. EJ
