It gets even worse.........................................................

Osceola (WQOW) - A Minnesota company deals a major blow to a western Wisconsin village.  The largest employer in that village is leaving.

Polaris Industries, out of Medina, Minnesota, is moving its plant in Osecola to Mexico.  Several hundred people work at that plant in Osceola.  They manufacture the Victory Motorcycle, ATVs and snowmobiles.  The plant has been there for almost 20 years.

The village president says all operations will be moved to Mexico in the next couple of years.  She says it was a surprise and feels the higher cost of shipping was, most likely, a major factor in the decision.  She says they'll being to have meetings soon to determine what to do once Polaris leaves Osceola.

Last month, the company reported a record first quarter net income of almost $20 million.  Sales were up 16% in the first quarter from the same time a year ago.

We could move to Mexico and get a job, if their immigration laws weren't so tough.

Hola-  Howdy do
Buenos Dias- Good day to you
Uno Cervezas por favor- bring me a cold one, if you don't mind

Just thought that since my State is being retaken by Mexico, I might as well learn the lingo.

I'm just pretty much disgusted by the whole situation.

I hated them before they moved.  They don't make a single attractive motorcycle.

record profits but they're moving anyway to make more money and pay their employees less.

That record profit number might be misleading.  There were probably undisclosed things going on that forced a move if the company was going to stay in business.  I'm not sure about their other products, but bikes are a hugely personal thing, and being American made was a big selling point with their bikes, as they appeal to the same crowd as HD.  I'll bet the Victory line of bikes don't last long once they start coming across the border stamped "Made in Mexico"...  The real blame lies with forces (Government, and probably union) that have forced so many American companies out of business, or off shore just to stay alive.

I'm all for companies making a profit but moving off off shore will cost them 90% of their sales.

A bunch of Polaris dealers are gonna be suffering. I can in no fashion see any worse time to make such an announcement. They do understand that being made in the USA is a very big reason to shop a Polaris don't they? Anyone pro USA enouigh to buy Victory is likely going to be anti-messican.

Maybe they can change the name to Defector for the messican market and how about Migrant for the US market.

I like motorcycles, but their not something I have to have. With all the taxing states, and the feds are doing on businesses, I don't see how any of them stay in business in the U.S.

No but they were made in England at one point.  Enfields are made in India.

But BO say that they are adding hundreds of thousands of jobs each month. I can't figure out why the unemployment rate keeps going up too.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

That reason is the temporary help for the census. As soon as it is over the unemployment rate will go up. This is unless obama brings out the smoke and mirrors.

Update on the Victory / Mexico thing , Seems Victory came out and quickly announced that some manufacturing elements of polaris will be moved to Mehico but that Victory Bikes will continue to be made in America. They were quite addiment about that point.

some guys here have alluded to the reason for companies leaveing the us but not came right out and said it. corporate income tax, simple as that.they can post record profits, but when unc sam gits done with them, they got less left than they did last year.and also as some members have mentioned , unions, or at least labor costs.until we drop corporate income taxes below the countries these corporations are moving too, we will continue to lose them and their jobs and the income tax the employees wou;ld pay and the sales tax from the items they would buy with the wages they would earn and the benefits from these gainfully employed investing in the stock market, buying vehicles, traveling etc. why cant the gov see that? im so mad now i could spit nails.

Let the union bashing begin.

Why bash unions? We love to hear about working 2 hours a day but staying on the job and getting paid for 8.... lets see  for every 4 workers we need a foreman, for every 3 formen we need a supervisor..... I see no reason to not hire lazy union slobs
then there is this union trick

Union's whine and cry to get their own way... if that don't work they go on strike... then they are too damn lazy to even walk their own picket line?
That's classic. ::)
Don't dare to say unions are the problem though... you might upset one of the "brothers" :-X :'(

Happy to hear the Victory's will still be domestic. But I'll be honest and say this whole mexican thing leaves a bad feeling.
