450 marlin load data accurat arms compressed loads?
« on: May 22, 2010, 06:26:25 AM »
I was looking at some data from accurate arms that they no longer have on their sight. a very low pressure very good velocity load.:

aa2495 66 grains- 2175fps- 22100psi

The load is compressed. seems to good to be true. I e-mailed accurate and their powder tech told me they don't recommend this powder in 450marlin. said because it was a very compressed load. I'm wondering why? I try to get compressed loads if they are low pressure as ignition is good and accuracy is good. so why is the load not recommended?

Just a guess here , but I'm thinking that the load has too much compression and thus not allowing for proper ignition , causing either Hang-fires or bad pressure spikes , both of which are bad things for the shooters .  :o

Also lower pressures are not always good for some rounds that are designed to run at higher numbers , they tend to not seal the case to the chamber properly and this causes blow-by , gas cutting , and fouling of the chamber & throat areas  .
