My go to load is 77gr RL-22 / CCI MagRiflePrimers and 180gr Nosler Partitions.  Recently I've had great accuracy using 75gr RL-22 and 200gr Accubonds and it's effect on black bear was well...predictably awesome.

I like IMR 4831 in near max level with a 180 gr Nosler Partition, or Speer hot core. They won't quite match the Encore photos above but I get close to 1 inch (sometimes a hair under) at 100 yds pretty regular. Now, my rifle is a HS Precison tuned Rem 700 action and their own cut rifled barrel with a long throat and bullets seated out longer than SAAMI specs..

I have done well with H4831 too.

I will be experimenting with Alliant Rx 19 and 22 soon.

I also had incredible accuracy with 180 Nosler Balistic tips and a mid level H450 load.
I usually use Rem brass, CCI 250 or Fed 215 primers.

If you are loading for a BAR you might consider whether near max loads are good for it. I just don't know much about them - do they take the beating that a tuned bolt gun can?

For game like caribou, I've actually dropped down below max to about 2900-2950 fps to reduce meat damage. Got tired of losing a lot of meat to much higher velocity 165 gr loads.

Dands gotta good point about the Browning semi BAR.  Max may not be the best thing.  Also another point....The late Bob Milak used to say that if you didn't need a 180gr bullet, you didn'y need a .300....to a point I suppose I agree.  Today's bullets are better than ever and a premium in 165gr may be just the ticket for 95% of game that you'd shoot with the .300.  I've used mine on moose and black bear....can't really justify using it on other stuff but probably will just cause I own it.  BTW...my 180gr loads give me 3070FPS and my 200gr loads give me 2940fps out of a 24" shilen barrel.

:D Depending on what you will be hunting, IMR 4350 is a great powder for the old .300 with lighter bullets, 150, 165, and 180...I used it for years with those bullets...Now for the 165's and up, I have switched to RE22, have lots of both so will probably not try many other powders...this old round seems very easy to work with and very accurate for a bigger rifle....

Every single rifle out there is different ............Im sure this is already known . I was determined to get 3000 fps outs my 300 WM . after trying several different powders under a 180 Hornday interbond , I fell back to good ole IMR 4350 , got a sub moa group and 3050 fps .

Be safe and work up slowly .

don't think they make em for belted brass...the few 300s I've had have long chambers.... so I got a RCBS precesion mic and headspace of the shoulder.

I like this load.

Grumnulkin,  what optics do you have on the Encore. I have a VXIII 2.5x10 on mine but thinking of trying a Grand Slam 4x14 .
