Mossberg 835 pumps
« on: May 23, 2010, 08:50:46 AM »
My son and I both love to turkey hunt. Our guns of choice are both Mossberg 835 3 1/2 mag 12 gauges. His in Real tree and mine Mossey Oak. My son was talking with me recently and said he was worried, because of my age and poor health, that I might need something with a little less kick. I told him I'm taking that 835 to the grave with me!  ;D

Mines a real tree and I love it for turkey and coyotes. I made the mistake of letting my son use it for turkey hunting this year, and I'm not sure if I'll get it back.

Mine is hand painted green, brown, and black......a custom paint job lol

I bought the very first 835 when they only sold the wood stock.......can't tell you how much that gun has been through......you wouldn't believe the stories. Now I only use it for spring turkey, put a kicks choke in it and a bushnel scope.....it is now an official turkey sniper gun!

I use a CZ double for most my hunting now, but when my favorite time of the year rolls around, I grap the 835!

just because its chambered for it doesnt mean you have to use 3 1/2 shells. Ive killed lots of game including turkeys with 2 3/4 in 12 guage shells.

Like stated earlier, just because it's a 3.5'' chamber doesn't mean ya have to shoot them half sticks of dynamite! I've got a Bennelli Nova that will flat shoot the 3.5s but I just can't stand the pounding. I'm shooting 3''#5 Federals at turkeys these days with what seems like half the recoil.

I'm on my second one!  Great shotgun all the way around.  I did make the mistake of buying to ported one though.  Crazy loud, especially dove hunting with higher round counts.

If you want to have some fun try 3 1/2" mag 00 buckshot, holy crap it kicks!  :o
