Nice looking rig.

I have a blued .454 and between the weight of the gun, the rubber grips and the porting, the recoil is surprisingly manageable.

I have the little 44 mag raging bull, and let me say the recoilm is easy to handle. I can shoot pretty much all day and no regrets.

GrimJim, I have a 45lc RB just like yours, when I get back to work I am going to put a red dot on it. I shoot 310 Keith at about 1200fps, (chronographed) and the recoil is not bad at all.

A year or so ago I shot one of the raging bulls in .454 at the shooting range---it shot like a rifle with open sights. Almost makes me think about gettin gone.

I have the same pistol that GRIMJIM has pic'ed in his above. His statement with that is absolutely true. The combo of the three makes my 335gr and 360gr full power loads tolerable for sight in and hunting.

The "expansion chamber" keeps muzzle rise to an absolute minimum. I have shot my handloads in a buddies Super Redhawk and there is no comparison. I would never own a 454Casull in anything but a Taurus due to their recoil reduction amenities. ---pruhdlr

I just bought a Taurus R.B. 454 and I like it a lot!
I just killed two hogs with it last week.
One shot in the neck and the other in the head at about 25-30 yards. They didnt move!

With my rapidly ageing eyesight am considering mounting a red dot sight on my 6.5" Casull. What do ya'll think about the scope base from Taurus. Sturdy enough ??  Scope/sight seems to stay zero'ed ??  No prob to allign on top of the pistol ?? ---pruhdlr

,,,,,you asked  "What do ya'll think about the scope base from Taurus?"

I have not had any problems with mine.   Once I got the screws a little snug, I tapped it back as far as it would go, and then tightened them up (I also used Lock-Tight on the screws)

I think there is plenty of "meat" on top of this gun to drill and tap for a different style of rings, or rail on it.
