Does it have a powder chamber, or is it the same bore all the way back? How far in front of the back of the bore is the vent?

Congratulations on getting it built. What are your plans for a carriage?

1" x 1 3/4" powder chamber.....bore is 1 3/4" x 11 1/4"

overall 16" plus ball end and 2 and 15/16 dia.

maybe a block sled type .....mount

safe proportions , and I like the reinforcement in front of the powder chamber
hope you will have fun shooting it when the carriage is finished
will you use golf balls or fox balls ??
approximately 6,5 cal bore depth , that makes it to a genuine howie .

GB and slaute ....500g for the slaute and 200 for the GB to start....

its very good that you have been lurkin around here and read a lot before you built it , now you made a safe first cannon and thats very good

just an small idea for the next build , shorten the trunnions to half the length and doubble the diameter instead . that will give it a little more correct proportions .

its not an criticism , just an advice .

Aahh, shoot, I hate when that happens! Tombstone - I listened to that audio at least ten times and couldn't make it out, so would you mind translating the Southern Hillbilly, so a tin-eared Northern boy could at least read it?

yes its wood with iron reinforcements
probably norwegian , 1650 to 1700
but the style was used in all northern european countries
maybe even in the south

This would be fun to make. Does anyone know of any survivors or replicas? I sure would like to see a picture of one.

sorry about the low quality (size) pictures ,
but the swedish army museum in stocholm sell them in full size if you want
just give them the number and I guess that they got pictures from all angles

thats all I could find now
this pictures are both from full size and scale models ,
but all of them are made between mid 1600 and early 1700
so there are no replicas , just originals

The wood versus metal square footage looks about the same. Although you could make the wood patterns for the cheeks if you wanted a little more involvement.

yes, many of the small models was as they most often was given to the king or some general as a gift to present a new model of weapon .
but in this case it probably was just given as an beautiful gift , dont think that anyone thought of to use that one in a war

this photo show a plated mortar that have been cleaned too much , there has the gold plating been worn off at most of the surface and the bronze have been dark
