North Korea--what's next?

Sometimes I wonder if perchance somebody hired N. Korea to do the number on the drilling rig...

Why would they do that ? What would they gain ? higher cost oil ?

Depends on who hired them to determine what they'd gain. If you're a military history buff, remember what the value of "harassing" does? It depletes your enemies ability to function at peak efficiency where it matters most, and creates opportunities for greater damage. Y'all might want to pay attention to the news in the Pacific this summer with RIMPAC 2010 going on.

Quid por-quo sometimes works;
   If somebody wanted to stop offshore drilling and send our cash to Muslim countries, it may be worth a look-the-other-way concerning
N Korea's nuclear program possibly aiding Iran and the starving and mistreatment of it's people.
  If somebody really wanted the U.S. to look bad and fail internationally, they could even promise a hands-off if N korea decides to invade/nuke S Korea..   Remember, there is a certified nut case in charge of N Korea..
