first walleye of the year
« on: May 26, 2010, 05:26:39 PM »
Had the boat in for a couple weeks. Been out on Lake Erie 3 times, never picked up an 'eye. So today, the youngest had ball practice, and the wife took him. Me and the oldest went out on the lake. I caught a nice catfish, that will be smoked, and an 18'' eye. My son, just had to show up the old man. Only caught one, but, that walleye went a little over 26'' and 6.5lbs. Man, that made me feel good netting that fish for him. Got a few trips planned for the next few days. Hope to run into a school or 2 out there. gypsyman

Just east of Toledo, western basin. Since that trip, we've had alot of rain, and wind. The lake got stirred up pretty good. Went out yesterday, to a spot called the gravel pits. About 6 miles offshore. We got a late start, trolled up to a pack of boats. But, didn't get a thing. From what we heard on the radio, the bite shut down about 1/2 hour before we got there. We drifted for about 2 hours, had some light hits, but couldn't get one in the boat. Hopefully will try again on Thursday. Bill

Was out Mon. put 3 eye's in the box.  Got blown off the lake by the storm, and had to quit early.  Lots of white bass and white perch to fill the cooler.  fished cone reef, was a 15 mile run from the dock though, longer then we wanted to go. We will try again when the lake settles down.
