Reloading brass 16 gauge shells
« on: May 26, 2010, 06:36:37 PM »
Any you reloaders have any experience in reloading brass shotgun shells?
I have a 16 gauge Winchester Mod 37, that I thought I would try these brass shells for reloads. It being a single shot, I would not be needing a lot of shells. Also have a 10 gauge in the NEF Turkey. Also was thinking about reloading brass shotshells for it.

I've done a few, but I'm still learning.  You need 14 gauge wads for Magtech cases.  Forget 16 ga. plastic wads, they will be much too loose.  I've seen debates about whether brass shells and smokeless powders work well together, but I can't see why not, though I've always used GOEX for my Magtech shells.

Here are a couple of links;

I've heard that finding 10 gauge brass hulls is difficult.

Thanks for the information Sir Charles!
The 10 gauge brass can be purchased from Rocky Mountain Cartridge although a little expensive.

If you like time consuming projects, 16 ga brass shells can be made from .50 BMG.
